Hello. I have purchased couple of bathroom extraction fans from Mingfans in Auckland to install in our bathrooms each. I will pass these onto the sparky to install and do the ducting as we have other work we need sparky to complete on the house but out of curiosity I wanted to test suction performance and noise so when I opened it all up, the end plug has a 4 pin connector in total. We did get timers installed in both fans set to 10 minutes. I emailed the company and they advised of below.

"Just cut that plug as that plug is special we have for testing and will have four cords of wire. black , brown, blue and earth and then your electrician wire to that wire with box will do

Black to constantly 240v all time
Brown to switch
Blue is N "

I am sure the sparky will understand once I pass it to them but incase they did not, I assume that either sparky will replace the connector plug with a new one or they will remove the plug altogether and hard wire it to main and switch on wall in the bathrooms?

Do whatever you want to do man.

As far as using the timer box as the junction box, depends on available room and how the flex currently connects inside the box.

Bungie cords for mounding the fan, yeah - nah, the cords will eventually break. best way is metal strapping - ideally follow manufactures instructions.
