I'm looking at getting a Nexus player but how does one get it in New Zealand or will I need to parallel import it myself via something like YouPost?

What would be a good alternative to it if they are gradually killing it off? I'm tempted to grab a Chromecast but I'd sooner have something that is more standalone if possible.

I love my AppleTV4. I guess it depends what you want it for. For me the ATV covers almost everything I'm after. I have apps from US, UK, Australia and New Zealand all sitting together on the home page, regardless of where I have my region set to (you need iTunes accounts for each store in order to download them). I use Netflix, Hulu Plus, Lightbox, BBC, a couple of the Aussie free-to-air channels, Plex, 3 On Demand, YouTube, TVStreams... and then I also Airplay UK Channel 4 and Fanpass from my iPad since they don't have apps yet. The only thing I am missing is TVNZ OnDemand, which I access via a little $220 Minix Neo Z64 Windows PC.

There are loads of little Android boxes you can get fairly cheaply too.

Did you ever find a Nexus Player Matisyahu? I have one here if you would like to buy it. $120 incl shipping. I am using Fire TV as I have Amazon Prime so it is sitting here unused.

Cheers, Matt
