Hi,
Any advantage in using Kodi etc on an S912 Octo core box, compared to a S905 Quad core box?
I assume there would be an advantage in gaming, but what if you only use the box for streaming?

I have seen HDR and more 4k stuff listed on the 912 boxes but not got one to try out yet. So that alone would be enough to swing me towards one if I was buying a box now, but as I cant stream 4k here and my TV doesnt have all the HDR things there is no reason for me to upgrade.

My S905 box says 4K, so should it make a difference, since the S912 box says the same?

S912 is newer and octacore and should run faster and some have 3 GB of memory, rather than the 2 most android stb have.

These are the ones to go for

Yep, I get that it's faster, but will it improve the streams? Less buffering?

Depends what the stream is? what are you trying to watch?

its more likely any improvment will come from having extra ram  and maybe a better chipset with faster wifi and 1000mbit ethernet.

I watch streams on Kodi.

I've already got an Android box (S905 with 2GB/16GB) and about to get a box (S912 with 2GB/16) for a family member.

I was wondering if it would improve my streams (which are already pretty good, but perfect always), if I used the S912 box.

I've got 200/200 fibre.

If you are talking about the illegal kodi streams from the internet, then no, they are usually hosted on places that are not supposed to be serving them up so the added box will not help the constant buffering and low quality.

Yeah mostly if its a free big name channel, usually source via a dodgy iptv service. Performance is usually limited by how many people are hitting it and even a 1gbit connection won't help.

free is free..

If you want more reliable  then go with paid sub to an iptv service provider
