Where oh where to post this? I will hope this is close enough.

I have become disillusioned with the new look Ookla which now insists on pushing intrusive advertising at me. While searching for alternatives I discovered TestMy.net. Just wondering if anyone else uses this and what the knowledgeable among us think of it. I see they have a server in Sydney, though none in NZ and most in the USA. The information provided is pretty comprehensive though I am not sure how reliable it is. My speed test came out a lot lower than elsewhere, though that was with the Texas server.

Why not use nPerf, which has New Zealand test servers?

Why not use fast.com as that will use the nearest Netflix CDN nodes based on your ISP. That gives a more real life experience of your maximum speed rather than getting a 930mbit so you can show off the speedtest result.

Otherwise I have pointed folks to http://spark.speedtestcustom.com which is the new HTML5 version of the speedtest without ad's. Just need to select the server you want to test against.

For some reason nPerf is no longer working for me. It hangs on checking ipv4 availability. Maybe that has to do with my ad blocker but that is the whole point.

If you're gonna run software that interferes with what content can be loaded then expecting everything online to work isn't reasonable.

I wasn't complaining, just explaining.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

OOKLA also have a browser extentsion, which has no ads, and a history of your results are found at the site BarTender mentioned, which links from the extension
