Personally I'm thinking about switching. May do anyways from unblock us just as Unotelly seems to have the best commitment to GZ.
Glassboy:JimmyC:Kinodad:davidcole: So is anyone game enough to approach their ISP? Personally I think it would be a futile option.Someone earlier in the thread posted a response from Vodafone...something to do with not investigating issues relating to Netflix
From a previous issue I was having with Netflix. This is posted on the VF Community forum -
"Vodafone is partnered with SKY and unfortunately Netflix contravenes SKY's broadcasting rights to their content. We won't be able to investigate this further. =/"

They can't investigate Netflix, but someone could ask who is traffic shaping and for what reasons.
freitasm: Folks, I have changed the subject to reflect it may be affecting more than one ISP.
If you can't stream Netflix please post a reply with which ISP, device (OS/version) and which service you are using that would help.
Also please visit http://www.lagado.com/proxy-test and let us know if it thinks you are behind a proxy or not.
getflix: Hi everyone, John from Getflix here...
We've come to a similar conclusion as Unblock Us.. there seems to be some ISP specific shaping/blocking going on when accessing certain CDNs/servers. This is all a working theory at this time, we're just putting our ideas/findings out there...
This shaping/blocking appears to be targeted at specific CDNs, in particular, Netflix Open Connect servers (possibly using the Open Connect ASN). Netflix in other regions uses other CDNs (Akamai, etc) which may explain why these are not affected.
There are still far more questions than answers... like why only some ISPs and why all at once? Do they share some international peering arrangements?
We've also believe that users on Orcon are not affected. Can anyone else verify this? Here's an interesting post on Orcon's blog that is well, interesting... http://www.orcon.net.nz/ufb/blog/how_to_watch_us_netflix_here_in_nz - they seem to be promoting Netflix streaming!
In terms of the reports that one of Playmo's DNS is OK... that DNS server is based in London and uses Google's DNS as an upstream. This is similar to our Ireland and London DNS servers... can anyone that's affected try to access US Netflix using only our London or Ireland DNS servers?
Thanks for all the info, both via our support desk and this thread... we'll post more info as it comes to hand.

Hi John,
This might point back to my original post, Slingshot/Vodafone use Vocus for their international, Telecom use TNZI for their international, both Snap and Orcon have built their own International Networks but also use some capacity from TNZI and others.
I'd be looking at maybe Vocus and if they are doing anything, although this would be affecting AU too as they are a large transit provider over there, so then again unlikely to be them (unless its something happening for just their NZ customers)
My theory does break down with some Telecom/Bigpipe users reporting issues too, but something else to consider might be the use of their proxy/cache servers, so far the only ISP that does not seem to have any users with issues is Snap, which does not cache any data, is there anyone from Orcon (who does cache) that is having issues?
Where abouts are the Netflix Open Connect servers that you would expect NZ customers to be pulling the data from located? do you have an IP Address that users can post traceroutes too?
