I had subscribed the last two season but shan't be this year. Too expensive, don't see what's being offered to justify a $50 increase? Will make do with MotD :)

Generally speaking PLP was reliable, and the picture quality didn't bother me, but what did get my goat was when I got the 'cannot stream due to bad internet connection' was actually was part of the stream and not really due to my connection - I know that as it happened at the same point in playback whenever I watched it. In other words it was like they were recording their own internet download to later stream and parts of it were inherently poor quality whatever my connection was like.

Did you try manually setting the bitrate by any chance?

Not that I know of. Does that make it better or worse?

The "Best Quality" or VBR setting will adjust the bitrate based on perceived network conditions. This would be why the quality was shifting as you were watching the games.

Next time you try, try manually setting the bitrate and adjust as necessary. You'll find the one that is best for your connection and stick with that.

As an example if I watch an NHL game using the PS3 it will constantly shuffle the quality, however if I log into my laptop and select the highest quality (I believe around 4000 kbps) then it will hold steady and I will enjoy an uninterrupted stream.

Cheers, will give it a go for general quality - but I was also making the point that the 'poor network quality' message was actually 'hardwired' into the stream I was streaming. If I got that message say on 23:45 then whenever I watched that bit again I always got that message at the same point. Or is it cleverer than that and once I stream will always get that version no matter if network speed improves the second time I play it?

Just subscribed. Haven't received the welcome email and Lightbox code yet but guess it will come in the next day or so.

Cool thanks. Have split the cost 3 ways with my Dad and brother so we'll just coordinate to watch at different times as you can only login once at a time. Went halves with my Dad last season and it worked ok since he's retired and has more time to watch games. My brother came in about halfway through the season after getting fed up with the delayed games on Sky. Still worked out ok as our work schedules tend to mean we're not usually wanting to watch at the same time.

Nice.  I should've probably looked into something like that.  But it's all done and dusted now.

I wasn't much of a fan of the delayed sky coverage either... I found the commentators on them really bias and annoying!

I am looking at subscribing.  Is there anyway you can test the feed before signing up?  I had a look on the website and couldn't see any way of doing this.

I don't remember seeing any test feeds, only information on the different kbps they offer.

Splitting the cost is a good idea, esp as I only watch my team. Seems a bit of a waste really.

Hi All,

First post!

I signed up just to tell you that the Taiwan prices are up for Premier League Pass.

The costs are:

$99.00 for the full season pass
$9.90 for a week pass
$9.90 for a day pass

It knocks around £20 off once you convert it to sterling, compared with the New Zealand Prices.

I signed up via the Taiwanese site using the following method on android:

Download this on your android device for free and connect to a Taiwan VPN - Simple!

VPN Gate List (Best Free VPN) - Android Apps on Google Play

Hope this helps someone!

I just asked Sky Sport on Facebook by private message (posting on their page is disabled) whether there are any plans to screen Champions League and they replied straight away that "an announcement is imminent." Whether that means they have it or know if someone else does I'm not sure but hopefully we get some info soon.

I also asked on the general Sky TV facebook page and they replied:

we're currently in negotiations for the rights to the UEFA Champions League for the 2015/2016 season, but at the moment we don't have anything to announce regarding this.

Kind of contradicts an "imminent announcement."

LOL yes well it was feeds taken from the club TV channels with their own in house commentators. The funniest (worst) was the man utd commentators, every time an opposition player tackled a utd player they'd howl for a penalty or a card regardless of it being a legitimate challenge.

That's because the rest of the PL clubs are a bunch of cheats and thugs!

Hi. Just wondering if someone can confirm if Samsung Blu-ray players can run the PLP App or is it just Samsung Smart TV's? If so, what model and is that app any good? I'm currently plugging in my Windows laptop to my TV to watch but would rather not have to do this. I don't have any other devices that have access to the PLP App so buying a Blu-ray player is probably the cheapest option. Thanks!
