trig42: This thread is quite bare of respondents from Telecom or Vodafone. They are usually pretty good at helping out/commenting on connection issues. I smell conspiracy.

given they both have contracts with content providers (VF with Sky, and Telecom with whatever they are launching)  they probably aren't allowed to discuss this sort of thing.

But since the issue is not only with Telecom and VF, it's also affecting at least Slingshot and Snap too (judging by responses in this thread), I don't think we can point to them as sources of the problem.

Still, it's a little quiet from the usual reps, some of whom are Netflix users themselves...

Maybe leave it day or so before you fetch the pitchforks.

I'm more a torch man myself but I wasn't planning on fetching either yet, merely making an observation.

Hi All,

We don't appear to have any known issues on our network with Netflix - but that I mean no reports from "Visitors to NZ" that maybe using means to stream over here :)

Thanks,
TheRalph

So i've managed to get some movies to work on netflix US on my laptop, still no luck on my xbox one and it's all set up the same. I can't watch everything on my laptop, so far i've only managed to get two subtitled movies to work, not sure if this is just luck or something else?

There is at least one snap customer in this thread reporting issues couple of pages back.

Could just be them, but worth checking just in case.

Here's my setup
Service: Unotelly dns
ISP: Slingshot
USA Netflix via Ipad app - Spinning wheel and won't load any movies.
USA Netflix via Win7 laptop - IE browser using silverlight, Content loads and can play movies.

If I change region via unotelly ( From USA Netflix to UK Netflix ), Ipad loads content and plays movies, same with Win7 laptop.

The issue is just with my ipad. Was working fine last week on Tuesday 20th May.

Apologies for the radio silence, guys. We don’t peer directly with Netflix, nor do we have any specific testing capability for Netflix – so we can’t comment on a root cause. What we can confirm is that we’re not shaping any traffic.

If this is the case then what can you say about the resins given by unblock us, unotelly and get flux that it appears that traffic is being shaped? That it's upstream of telecom?

As I said before it could be that the upstream provider doesn't peer with Netflix somewhere, causing this problem. Remember the attack on Net Neutrality the ISPs are underi n the USA...

Wii
Telecom
Unotelly DNS
Netfix-US

Haven't seen any issues whatsoever. Maybe the lower bw streams for the Wii go to a different CDN node.

My personal netflix is working fine but I use a vpn.

As it's not a service you can get in NZ the only way is via a vpn or similar service so I would refer back to the service provider for their support.
