jarledb: If you get "unavailable" in the price box when trying to install an app, then the Amazon account you are using is set to the wrong country. Finally figured it out just a day or so ago.

Its possible to log into Amazon and change the country of the device.

You do this in Your Account -> Manage Your Content And Devices
Left menu: Country settings

Mine was set to Norway and that did not allow me access to the apps like Youtube etc. Setting it to US was easy enough. My Fire TV has still to discover that its allowed to download content though, but I can add apps via http://www.amazon.com/b?node=7031433011

Not sure wether I need to reset the box to get it to understand its allowed to download now. Will see if some setting time out on it and use the web interface to add apps until I get fed up enough. :D

So should I set the country code to USA or to New Zealand?

Has anyone signed up for the $2.99 a month all you can eat kids deal thing?

Do you have a link?

http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?&docId=1000863021

This is supposedly available on the fire TV, I haven't had time to see how you sign up for it yet..

Edit, it's not launched yet:

Edit 2: Better link

Customers who subscribe to FreeTime Unlimited—Amazon’s all-you-can-eat content subscription designed just for kids ages 3 to 8—will get unlimited access to thousands of movies and TV shows. FreeTime Unlimited is available for Prime members to enjoy for a monthly price of $2.99 per child or $6.99 per family. Customers who are not yet Prime members can subscribe to FreeTime Unlimited for a monthly price of $4.99 per child or $9.99 per family. Amazon FreeTime and FreeTime Unlimited will be available on Fire TV starting next month.

As for Sky - that the whole point of this box, I'm trying it out to see if I can cut the cable (dish but you know what I mean)

I would set it to USA, because I am sure the app publishers can set their regions, and most might default to USA with the Fire TV only being available there at the moment.

I have no devices and cannot make the changes art amazon that I need to get it working.

It appears that because my account was originally a .co.uk account, even though I have not been there for 8 years, I am unable to change it to an Amazon.com account and use my Fire TV device.

I'm snookered

Playback errors in amazon prime content and hulu plus for me. Worked yesterday.

Well I can confirm I am not using any unblock DNS Services on my FireTV and it's working with my Trial of NetFlix and with Amazon Prime Services.

It seems it had expired and putting in payment details wasn't enough to make it work. I had to click a link in the email I got yesterday telling me I had 2 days left to actually make it charge the card and turn back on.

Heineken Failed.

Carlsberg Failed.

But after just one sip of Grolsh, I now have Unotelly working, without any problems.
For some reason it seems faster on speedest.net.

All good, thanks very much for all of the help I received.

New Amazon account on USA address and USA address registered card. All good!

Hi richms,

Are you still having trouble getting Amazon or Hulu to work on your Fire TV?

It's ok now. Seems your 2 days left email was late and there is no indication when logging in that the trial had expired.

Still seeing very low quality playback in amazon prime to start with and vivo videos are also dropping back to a really really low quality frequently. I'll move the fire tv over to ethernet when I get another cable thru and see if that helps it pick better streams.

Yip, I have a wired 1Gb/s network all around my home.

When streaming, I avoid wireless like the plague.

Hi all, I just got my Fire TV in the mail and overall it's fantastic. However I'm having a problem with audio over HDMI with my Sherwood receiver. I just get choppy sound. I was wondering if anyone had the same problem? And whether they have resolved it?
