Lot of anger here. I guess you have to pay to play...
Anyone on a Spark Netflix Plan been contacted yet as to how the charging for additional family members will work? Will Spark charge the extra or Netflix directly?
Or do we have to wait until the 21st?

I am and no email. ATV4 isnt compatible for saying I am the user "here" I read and I cannot recall where but Im sure it was via a Netflix Q+A, that NF bills Spark for the plan and any addons such as my $6-50 Premium and if I paid the $7-99, same applies
My Wife has just about had enough of Netflix , everytime she goes to watch it she gets the message to set her location and she has set it 3 times now but it keeps asking her .
Common sense is not as common as you think.

At the gym all the Life Fitness machines have Netflix available on them, guess there’s no longer any point in keeping Netflix on them or machines in a similar environment any more.

Been paying for Netflix for years. I've found the content lacking over the last while and so use other platforms. Any friction added to the process of watching Netflix will see me cancel and perhaps sign up for a month here or there instead of paying continuously through the year.

Thats exactly how I feel.
A work collegue showed me his device page, he lives in chch, Netflix are saying his TV in his lounge is in Wesport. He shares his account with other family members who are chch based, their devices are saying they are based in Methven.
If you get your flix through spark, you dont have the option of the $7.99 extra member option as it is already a subsidised plan.
michaelmurfy: What is worse is under the new policy I found out that it fully blocks my Tesla from accessing my Netflix account as it isn't at home (it operates off an AU sim)

why not? they only subsidise the standard plan, and people are able to upgrade to the 4k/uhd plan and the spark bill just gets padded with the difference between the 2 plans. i imagine the cost for sub-accounts would be handled the same way.

As I said earlier, geolocation based on IP address is not able to be trusted and should be treated as indicative only. In most of NZ it's only accurate to Country level.
And this is not the means that Netflix will use to determine location!

Question, when you are at home, does your Tesla not use your Home WiFi, though I guess it begs the question of why you'd watch Netflix in your car at home :)
Problem is it sits on a separate IoT network for a start but also the Netflix "app" is just Chrome, in fullscreen, viewing the Netflix site. I don't ever launch it at home so when I am out and about Netflix helpfully says I'm traveling.
Unless you have a different external IP address for your IoT devices and/or you prevent your IoT network from accessing the Internet, this is unlikely to be an issue as your home IP address will be a key piece of data used to determine your location.

There is a different external IP address. There is also a different IP subnet range, different IP Geolocation, different DNS and all. It is a fully different network in every way apart from being broadcast from the same access points. Same with my Guest network. The crap policies do not work at all in my situation unless if I put all streaming devices onto the same network which, I won't ever do. Geolocation also won't with some clients such as the Tesla as I am not launching the page at home at all regardless nor do I want to micromanage something I shouldn't have to.
The policies do not work for everyone. Rumor has it though that Tesla has been whitelisted by Netflix but I'll have to see it before I'll believe it.

We use information such as IP addresses, device IDs, and account activity to determine whether a device signed into your account is connected to your primary location.
We do not collect GPS data to try to determine the precise physical location of your devices. We use the IP address from the Netflix device or app to assume its general location (such as city, state/province, and postal code).

...It's not just about total revenue or total profit. You are looking to maximize profit per client. Ideally, you do want lots of clients...
I know this is somewhat off topic, but I'm just not following your logic here. Maximizing profit per customer isn't necessarily a net gain if you lose half your customers in the process.
