You HAVE to sign-in to use Netflix.

That is the first time that has come up on the screen, just normally select Netflix and bam the full USA catalogue is there, I'll give it a go tonight when I am home.

You must have had to log in the first time you used it.

With devices like PS3/PS4, FireTV etc I think you activate Netflix not login. The device app presents a code on the screen. You take that code and login in to the netflix website through a browser session and enter the code. It then confirms that the device is activated. You can then go back to the device and access the netflix service...no lonin needed.

Nope. On my Amazon Fire TV I have to login. I use Activate for Hulu but for Netflix I enter my username/password.

I just installed an Amazon Fire Stock (Christmas present from my daughter :-) ) Using Unotelly and only blocking Google DNS for a Chromecast (which I had to remove to plug in the Firestick) no problems accessing Netflix. As Mauricio says I had to logon to both my Amazon Prime account and also my Netflix account but after that, all worked fine.

robbon44: Ok your login will only work if you have a Netflix account, ie you have paid them $7.99 per month.

It is possible that you were on a month free trial or similar but I do not believe that you no longer have Netflix. The screen is showing that Netflix is available it just needs a current login/ active account.

Try accessing Netflix through a web browser and login to see if your account is active. Check that you have actually paid your subscription and that your account is active.

If the Netflix screen does not even load ie the app doesn't load then and only then is Netflix no more..

We do have a Netflix account and have had it for some time, subscription is up to date. My partner is on holiday at the moment so have to wait for him to come home, apparently there is some setting that sometimes changes and he needs to have a look and see if he can sort, I can't as he has his laptop with him and my son has taken mine! So back to "normal t.v." until next week.

spk18: Looks like to me its already begun - getting the Netflix black screen of death while running Apple TV4, unblock-us on VF cable Wellington. Initially could get into Netflix last night but didn't have US content, so I restarted and couldn't get in at all. Worked perfectly the days before. Ugh. Anyone else have issues or is this just me?

Coincidentally, I signed up for Netflix last night, using the Xbox One App, using Unbock-Us pointed to NZ for the sign-up process. I then pointed it back to the US and everything worked fine. No problems so far....

Since my last post I have been getting the Netflix "You appear to be using an unblocking service..." message on the Xbox One and contacted Unblock-Us for support. I am not sure if Unblock-Us will be concerned if I share the following information that fixed the issue:

"Sorry to hear that the changing to 64.145.73.5 and 209.107.219.5 did not fix the problem. We do however have a few other things we can try.

If the problem *still* persists. Then try these steps below (in sequential order)

1.) Sign out of your Netflix account an *all* devices or computers. For browser make sure you clear your cache and restart browser for good measure.

2.) Remove 64.145.73.5 and 209.107.219.5 and your DNS servers and replace them with 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 or use your local ISP DNS by switching to Automatically obtain DNS addresses.

Note: This will temporarily disable your service.

3.) Confirm that DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 or your ISP DNS is configured (Service will not activate for example).

4.) Sign back into your Netflix account which will give you access to your local region. Try to watch a programme and confirm it works. Then, sign out of your Netflix account on whatever device currently. If browser make sure cache is cleared.

Note: be sure you are doing this on just the same device initially as above *or* on the same computer via web browser.

5.) Configure 64.145.73.5 and 209.107.219.5 back again to reactivate your service. Once you confirm that your service is working again, select your desired Netflix region as indicated here http://screencast.com/t/4siEziTi

6.) Sign back into your Netflix account on desired device or browser and try to watch a programme."

I do still occasionally get the message but simply sign-out completely and back in again to resolve it.

Bassd on other posts in this thread and information from Unotelly I have set my router to block all the Google IP's and also use DNS servers in the US and Dynamo.

That seems to have solved the Netflix issue but does cause local browing of PC's and WiFi devices to run quite slow when accessing local sites like Stuff and Herald. For desktops that don't need Unotelly I manually code in the network settings the Vodafone DNS but it's not easyy to do that on mobile devices.

Is there a way arouind that?

I only put Unotelly's DNS into the devices I use for international streaming (an Apple TV, an old iPad and a PS3), and leave my router on Spark default DNS, so that my main computer browsing and my main iPad are unaffected.

The general consensus now is that those who have a working service should keep it to themselves, to avoid helping the bad guys.

Probably timely to note that the "bad guys" are not Netflix.

Working or not via unblocking methods, I'm happy to keep paying my subscription.

i was wondering why the chatter on here was so quiet about it.

ill stick with netflix, i think they have their intentions in the right place. id actually like to see them spend their money on making their own shows, which aside from Oitnb I have found fantastic. Speed to market though seems slow. Id love another season of Marco Polo, rather than pay money for "The Walking Dead" which I can watch on FTA on demand site.

I've been getting it for the last 4 days. Have now cancelled Netflix.

Looks like everything going under ground now like dealing in drugs or something.

Have rest of my billing period to watch, plus looks like they keep all settings and what up to in watch list for 10 months.

Might just subscribe the odd month when on holiday etc.

I see that a new illegal hybrid service is emerging, combining Pirate Bay and Torrentfreak into a pirate streaming service. I am sure it won't be long before they start streaming the entire American Netflix site. Australians are already saying there is nothing they can do about it, because they can't put the whole country in jail. So instead of collecting subscriptions and paying royalties in America, Netflix and the content providers will get nothing. Good move, guys.

The only "illegal" aspect is the fact Netflix and the movie companies have a tonne of money and can do what they want.
