Thanks for posting this. Actually, I think this is one of the earlier rootable firmwares going by the information on this website http://www.aftvnews.com/amazon-fire-tv-software-update-history-page/

Just received my Fire TV yesterday. Ordered late in the evening on the 24th September, so pretty quick shipping from Amazon and YouShop.

Spent a bit of time last night setting it and have it going with Unotelly DNS and Netflix and Hulu Plus are working fine.  XBMC install was easy using adbFire.  Was able to set the time zone to NZ by installing "TimeZone Changer" apk.

A couple of issues I'm having:

1. Vevo just gives me a black screen after the intro animation and activating via vevo.com.  I can press to quit and get an ok/cancel prompt but that's all.  Is Vevo working for anyone else?  Its working fine on my Apple TV.

2. The audio lags on XBMC after watching for a while when I watch recorded TV (using the MediaPortal PVR client). Has anyone had any luck with PVR clients? I could switch to another recording backend if that gives a better result.

Exact same shipping time as mine! I Watched ep 2 of gotham last night (1080p) didn't have any audio lag, but was streaming from my wd my cloud. what skin do you use for xbmc? Do you know who to change the default view from list to thumbnail with out having to go through every movie/tv show

I've watched a couple of movies coming from the same PC as the recorded tv without any audio sync problems. Just seems to be when watching recorded TV.

I'm using Bello theme. Seems to be the cleanest one I could find. Tried about 10 last night. How about you?

You should be able to press up twice, or left twice to get the menu to come up and change the view.

Went with, Aeon Nox, yeah figured the left x 2 menu, but didn't want to have to go into every tv show, to change from list to media info 3, seems to be no way to set as default.

Got Vevo working by switching to dns4me.net for geo unblocking, and then using their DNS logging and setting up a custom domain for api.vevo.com

I use unotelly as well - Vevo works (or specifically doesnt work) as you describe.
Xbmc working perfect - but I am not using PVR files.
I installed llama and classic tv. You can use llama to make the classic tv icon launch xbmc - saves those multiple key clicks...

I can't see Classic TV listed as an app on our Fire TV, and this post indicates you also side loaded this as well as Llama. Whereabouts can I find the Classic TV apk to install this, and/or are there other suitable apps already installed which can be used as a shortcut to XBMC? Or is it possibly no showing due to something (Getflix; Amazon account) being set to the wrong location? Thanks for any help...

EDIT - scratch the above: I've found out that it's just an app to be downloaded on the Amazon app store; why I didn't think of that I will never know...

I stuffed up my install of the Fire TV from the get go - even though I blocked the update sites in my router, it downloaded the latest firmware, and only gave me the option to install this rather than just check for available updates. Not too big an issue for me, but this silly mistake means it's unlikely I'll get them for my sisters, who will require HD access from the USB, as I can't afford the same stuff up in their cases.

The itunes content will be DRM protected (Digital Rights Management) - so effectively locked up.
You would need an app that can specifically handle DRM files.

Woo AFTV arrived a couple of days ago, just getting a chance to play with it now. Setting up XBMC currently it was very easy to install with ADBFire. Next I'll look at the options for setting XBMC to auto run and configure all the addons required.

I'm using this without any kind of geo unblockers, will be almost solely XBMC, including the youtube and pandora addons.

Re running XBMC on the Fire TV, I am unable to get Dolby Digital outputting. I've ensured DD+ over HDMI is selected in the Fire TV settings, and similarly 5.1 output selected in the XBMC audio settings. I've also tried out various options in the XBMC audio settings but to no luck.

Can anyone advise how they got Dolby Digital working on their device? It's a bog-standard Yamaha receiver; I guess I could see if DD outputs over SPDIF but would rather avoid this if possible.

Many thanks.
