Thanks for that tip .... I have ordered two at US$29.00 each with free shipping to my Oregon Youshop address.

Unfortunately, I have messed up my Amazon order. Too much haste and not enough attention to detail. I have mistakenly ordered two Amazon Fire TV Voice Remotes, not the Fire TV Stick.

If anybody here wants a Fire TV Voice remote, please let me know. I'll sell them at cost + shipping. They have not yet arrived at my US YouShop address, so I guess they will take a week or so to get to NZ.

Davoid: Okay, I have my Fire TV set up and running using Unotelly and Netflix. Am enjoying watching old episodes of Cheers and Frasier. Everything is working fine, except when I watch an HD movie. I sometimes have the picture look as if it is moving frame by frame (fast so that you just notice a slight pause between frames). I have the Fire TV running thru my Yamaha RX1030 receiver via HDMI and audio in the Fire tV set to Dolby Digital.

Forgot to mention that it is picking up the service by wireless connection thru my Spark VDSL router (Speedtest gives me 34 mb download and 10 mb upload)

I am having an Electrician arrive Thursday to install a cat 6 cable from Router to Lounge so as to have a hard wired connection. Should this solve the jumping issue?
Just thought I would ask in case anyone else has had similar issue.

I have this issue sometimes when playing local content on XBMC, (im on wired connection with same speeds as you), if i come across a file that does stutter, i play it through plex (on the FTV) and it plays smooth......very strange

Ive had this a couple of times. Seeking foward and back solved it.

A bigger annoyance I am having is the fire tv stick constanly flipping up and down resolutions when playing because wifi, and the picture moves a little when it changes on youtube.

Oh no! I would actually suggest keeping the remote, the one that comes with the fire tv stick is pretty average compared to the other.

Yes, perhaps I should keep em. I'll just order two Fire Sticks. Buggar! This has turned out to be more expensive than anticipated.

What is the different between Fire TV and Fire TV stick? Only the ethernet/lack of ethernet? Is the UI the same?

UI is the same, but the stick seems way slower than the box. Often have lag going back home, scrolling in youtube sometimes takes several seconds before it happens, slowness in getting the thumbnails etc too. Not sure if that is wifi or cpu/ram related tho.

Firetv has double the specs of its stick brother. Your talking a quadcore snapdragon vs a dualcore broadcom. 2gb vs 1gb ddr2

I'm very new to streaming. I have MyRepublic 100/50mbps and have signed up girl netflix. Works great on my Xb1 and ps4, but not on Xbox 360 or Samsung smart TV. I think the Samsung App is bugged according to some Google searches but the xbox 360 is puzzling. Used a USA account to download the app and using auto settings. Not luck.

Anyway, l need a device for the lounge that will stream netflix and looks like Amazon Fire could be for me. Has anybody tried this with MyRepublic? Also, does anyone know if there is one I could buy in Wellington?

Using both my fire tv sticks last night and I can't recommend them. Constant glitches in youtube playback which sometimes had the audio looping so we're not bandwidth issues. Things get really hot so it may be that.

User interface in both youtube and the home menus is too laggy. Constant missed button presses and delayed actions make for frustrating use. As in press the center button to open youtube controls, press left a couple if times to move to the down arrow but the box lags so long the menu goes away and your left presses become reminds and you change videos.

Its the initial software version for the firetv stick, i wouldn't worry as amazon will resolve this. The hardware is more than capable of playing youtube!

Never buy something on the promise of software updates solving things. For now I would either get the proper fire tv or wait till they actually solve it. For $19 each it's tolerable but at $40 without the microphone remote it's not a good deal at the moment.
