KiwiTim: I just tried it again. I get kodi-14.0-Helix-armeabi-v7a.zip (59.4 MB) from mirror.overthewire.com.au

I am pulling my hair out with this. Everywhere I try all I get is a file ending in .zip

Would you mind emailing me the .apk via a PM?

I have got it. I tried another PC and it downloaded normally. I have Unotelly DNS on the PC I tried first, Vodafone DNS on the other PC. Somehow it made a difference.

Nope, I think either the browser or the programs associated with APK on that PC made a difference, not the DNS.

One PC was 8.1 and I used IE, the one that didn't work was W7 and I used IE. Anyway, I now have XBMC on the Stick, after some trial and error!

I have had issues with movies in Plex randomly stopping several times throughout a movie. Simply exiting the movie and playing it again resolves it immediately which is odd.

No issues with Netflix/Amazon Prime content that aren't bandwidth related.

Hi,
Just got my Fire TV and have signed-up for the 14 day trial with dns4me, but cannot get my Amazon Fire TV showing any videos. I've followed the guide @ https://dns4me.net/guides/set-top/fire-tv and are seeing entries in the DNS log from the device. https://dns4me.net/check gives passes too. But when I load any videos on the Fire TV - prime TV or movie trailers, etc. - Fire TV always times-out and gives a player error with error code 'UNKNOWN_ERROR". If I remove dns4me's DNS servers from the Fire TV setttings, then it works fine.
Any advise?
Thanks.

Which app you are talking about? The Amazon videos, or Netflix/Hulu?

  • Is it correctly associated with your account?
  • Do you have a Prime account?
  • Is this happening on trailers for any movie?
  • Have you restarted the Fire TV (pull the plug, wait ten - fifteen seconds, connect again)?
  • Tried another service, such as Unotelly?
  • Is your Fire TV using the latest firmware?

  • Is it correctly associated with your account? - Yes, done by Amazon before delivery. Checked, and correctly.
  • Do you have a Prime account? No, not yet.
  • Is this happening on trailers for any movie? Yes
  • Have you restarted the Fire TV (pull the plug, wait ten - fifteen seconds, connect again)? Yes, several times now to be sure.
  • Tried another service, such as Unotelly? No, was thinking that might be the next step.
  • Is your Fire TV using the latest firmware? Yes, updated yesterday (auto updated when first setup)

DNS4me supporting is being fantastic too (multiple responses, checking my DNS4me settings/account through their own device).

Thanks.

I had problems initially with DNS setup.

After linking your amazon account and setting up the connection with smartDNS settings..

1. Set your "device region" to USA in the Amazon account settings under devices.

Note: I also removed all CC info and addresses from my amazon account- some people have said you need a US billing address so play around with NZ/US/None addresses.

2. Sync with the Amazon account under AFTV settings.

3. Power cycle the device by unplugging it from the tv, and disconnecting the power cable for 2mins (i wasn't power cycling properly numerous times which ended up being the final remaining issue for me)

Had a similar problem as mine didn't work with a NZ address and Card.

  1. Updated my Amazon account with a US address and Airpoint Prepaid Card.
  2. Changed country settings to US.
  3. Re-registered the devices.

Thank-you! The combination of these 2 actions worked for me.

For anyone wanting a geo-block removal DNS provider, I can recommend DNS4me. Their support has communicated with me many times back-n-forth via email, and offered suggestions and settings to try.
