networkn: Hmm anyone having trouble with Netflix on firetv tonight? I am getting NW-4-8 errors.

Using Unotelly.

We're with SmartDNS Proxy. We were using Netflix last night until about 11pm, but it is not working at all this morning. I have switched the DNS back to that of the ISP and the internet works fine, so it's the Proxy DNS that's the problem. Will try switching back later today.

Has anyone tried side loading PGA Tour Live onto the fire tv? My Mum is a freak for watching golf, and loves the XBMC I have setup on her rooted Fire TV. I haven't been able to get hold of the apk yet to test, just wondered if someone else had? Alternatively if some could share the apk with me that would be great - Mum has paid for a subscription, so it is just a testing exercise. Mods please delete if I am ouside the FUG.

I was looking for a way to control my Fire TV with my old Logitech Harmony 785, so ordered this a few weeks ago. It just arrived today.

Haven't set it up with my Harmony remote yet, but have quickly tried plugging it in and using it with the bundled remote. The bundled remote's buttons feel pretty clunky, but if I can get it set up on my Harmony remote that won't be a problem.

The Internet Explorer button functions as the home button, "Esc" functions as back, and even the virtual mouse works which can be useful for sideloaded apps. The only buttons lacking from the standard remote are the context menu button (supposedly the right mouse click should do this, but it didn't work for me) and of course the voice search. There might be some additional key definitions available through the Harmony database that can handle the context menu button but haven't checked yet.

Also I found that if I put the Fire TV into sleep mode through the menu system, I can still wake it up with the infrared remote. Hopefully this will work if it goes to sleep by itself.

A wee bonus I found was that the yellow hotkey button (I believe this sends a Ctrl+Alt+D keypress, the packaging isn't very clear) will cause the Netflix app to display some information showing the current video resolution of the stream and audio mode. This isn't the full debug information including bitrate that was mentioned earlier in the thread, but still nice to have available.

I don't think you'll be able to connect to the Fire Tv with the Harmony 785.
The fire tv remote is actually Bluetooth connection rather that IR.
I got a Harmony Ultimate one and it connects via Bluetooth and paired to the Fire Tv.

The remote I purchased includes a USB infrared receiver, so it acts like a USB keyboard when plugged into the Fire TV. Will program my 785 with the infrared codes from the remote.

Would like to upgrade from the old 785 one day, but I don't like the positioning of the playback control buttons being at the top of the latest models.

Found a Handy Tip:- If you download the Kodi app from amazon app store, it will tell you its not compatible with AFTV, proceed anyway, then sync your AFTV, and the kodi app will appear in your recent tab
