So could Sky buy access to the EPL live games from PLP? Or would Sky have to be an ISP and for those customers with sky internet be able to bundle the service together with its sat service to allow a consolidated viewing via it's new set-top box that connects to the Internet to access their Isky content too ?

That would be a great position for all sports fans as then Sky don't have to buy the rights to the content just subscribe on a per Customer basis. billing systems could be integrated to allow single adds moves and changes and simplification....

I'd imagine the EPL is quite strict on reselling their content. I'm fairly sure that there can be only one live provider in a country (EPL content rights) hence why the price is always quite high to win the bidding.

Ideally this would be perfect for me, a PLP channel on Sky; however Optus D1 doesn't have much more space for new services so would require Sky to rejig, unless they simply where able to buy the games that they wanted.

In the perfect world, the EPL would allow an online service and 'terrestrial' service per country, OR that PLP would release a Samsung Smart TV application!

Agreed. this would be a great solution. I don't even think the world would need to be perfect!!!

It will be very interesting to see how sky roll out the MUTV thing. I have seen that Arsenal TV & City TV have been on the last two nights for 3+ hours each.

The AJS stream does look much better now that they are in HD. It'll be interesting to see the two side by side this weekend.

So it's sounds like its going to be the whole MUTV Channel. So the games will probably be on at the earliest possible time that they can be. The only thing this changes for me though is that I'll be able to watch the reserves/u21 games (live hopefully) still will have plp cause I like to watch the epl games live.

Apparently there's live radio commentary on MUTV

I have my doubts about this. There isn't room (apparently) for a dedicated channel via Sky, so I presume it will simply be shown on the existing sports channels like they are doing with Arsenal & Man City.

A dedicated channel would be great but I am sure we would be asked to pay for it!!

so are these 4 team channels different to sky sports? What i mean, is MUTV going to be a dedicated channel (or isky channel) or will those games just be showed on sky sports 1,2,3,4?

The press release is very badly written and what I took out of it it would be another channel. But yeah I don't know. Andrew Gourdie from TV3 is trying to find out more. He doesn't think it'll be another channel.

If its another channel then that is pretty interesting given the content... As part of the existing line up worries me due to the other sport programs that would be competing for the same time slots.

Agreed, the press release was poor.

Unless Sky are willing to can an existing channel (which they could easily do!!!), my understanding is that there isn't room for a new one. Plus, I doubt there is enough content to justify it. MAYBE, an entire channel showing all four clubs channels???? unlikely though.

They wouldn't be assembling the channel themselves they would just take the MUTV channel from England so there would be no issues re: content

Maybe they will get rid of Jones and use that bandwidth for MUTV. :P
