Health Minister said they managed to convince the said local evangelical church about the reality of covid and that they were largely compliant - eventually. as opposed to said South Korea cult who still do not have buy and are engaging in mass protests. 

I think there is a slight difference.

Also the positions they take are not isolated to religion - i don't believe the mass protests in Australia (there is a subset who believe Covid is created so the govt can control them - read the comments on skynews australia) are religious based.

So i don't think this is a religious thing - just like half the world don't want to take the vaccine, that half of the world don't believe Covid is real. If you let that half infiltrate here it's not necessarily going to be religious groups.

The World Health Organisation has announced a new daily record high in coronavirus cases confirmed worldwide, with more than 350, 000 infections reported to the UN health agency on Friday.

The new daily high of 350,766 cases surpasses a record set earlier this week by nearly 12,000. That tally includes more than 109,000 cases from Europe alone.

So remdesivir is indeed a worthwhile drug, especially when given to people in higher-risk patient groups. This confirms the preliminary reports, and (to be honest) is somewhat better than some of the early reads. Not everything gets worse when you look at it closely! But you have to look at it closely and rigorously – there is no substitute and there are no shortcuts.

 

I’m not in a mood to be subtle. Hydroxychloroquine treatment for coronavirus does not work. It is not beneficial, and in fact appears to be actively harmful. As far as I’m concerned, administering it to infected patients now constitutes medical malpractice. I have no interest in goalpost-moving efforts to say that they didn’t administer zinc or azithromycin, or they picked the wrong patients or the wrong loading dose or whatever. No. This is special pleading, and it is not backed up by any hard data. None of the countries or regions where HCQ was enthusiastically adopted, with or without the addition of zinc, azithromycin or what have you have seen discernable benefits. It. Does. Not. Work. Give it up.

[The public health advocacy group, Public Citizen, in an open letter urged the DHHS and Gilead to investigate GS-441524 for the treatment of COVID-19, suggesting that GILEAD was not doing so for financial motives related to the longer intellectual property lifespan of Remdesivir.

Simpler to make, possibly as effective or more effective, possibly effective in oral form (Remdesivir is an infusion - so then you're not likely to get it until or unless you are really sick and hospitalised - or if you're a VIP).  But hey - Gilead can make money from Remdesivir until 2037, but the patent for GS-441524 expires in 9 years.

I just hope an effective cheap vaccine severely limits the profit potential from "treatments".

Two cases being reported today arrived from South Africa, via Dubai, on 29 September. The two people have been in managed isolation in the Sudima in Rotorua and have returned a positive test result following an additional test due to previously identified cases on their arrival flight.  

 

They are both now being transferred to the Auckland quarantine facility. 

 

The other two cases being reported today arrived from Iran, via Dubai, on 5 October. Our total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 is 1,514, which is the number we report to the World Health Organization.
