You can make scanning a mandatory as you like, it doesn't seem to result in people actually doing it. Scanning apps have been a fizzer pretty much everywhere in the world.
Australian abandons target to have all vaccinated by the end of the year.

I did some off the cuff estimates based off the MoH usage data - April is shaping up to be our second worse month in terms of scanning.

Bluetooth uptake is starting to decrease too, here is the base movements:

There's a high chance we'll end up slipping on this too, given how many runs they have on the board already.
And that's no reflection on the government, more that it was going to be a stretch to get the whole country done in under nine months no matter what.
Good Grief! Only 79% of one companies security personnel are vaccinated! Why is this information only coming to light now? Why isn't the minister for COVID19 getting daily totals? It's so tiresome that everything seems to be done reactively. This is a pretty simple but important thing. We shouldn't be in this situation. Where is the accountability?
And people get annoyed when I ask questions like "What if" when planning a feature or working on a project. Everyone else seem to think setbacks and problems never happen in real life and always plan with no contingency or Plan B at all.

At the end of the day it's personal choice. How exactly does it effect you if someone decides not to be vaccinated, if your take your vaccine then in theory you should have immunity right?
How does it affect me? Well, perhaps you might want to read up on the effects of the Covid 19 vaccine (and other vaccines) on immunocompromised people.
Plus... if not enough people get vaccinated, covid-19 won't die out, and will hang around for years, and keep killing for years.
For the people who need to get something for themselves out of being vaccinated... some time in the future, you may find yourself immunocompromised for a variety of reasons, in which case covid-19 will be a death sentence for you. Yeah, that's a long shot. But, even if that doesn't happen, you will almost certainly eventually become an older person with various health issues, in which case covid-19 will again be a death sentence.
Your life will one day be *much* better if covid-19 is eradicated. Even for self-centred dicks, vaccination is a good personal choice.

The only excuse would be if we can't get enough vaccines. We have 5 million people. The USA is doing that (nearly) daily.
When I had my first shot, I was shocked at how slow and tedious it was. I passed 4 stations that required different things. Without any delays it was nearly an hour onsite. Putting my problem-solving hat on, I could have made it quite considerably faster and more streamlined than that.

From speaking to a fairly well connected source yesterday there still seem to be problems getting vaccinations for some frontline border workers. The MoH and Government made a big deal about opening new vaccination centres in South Auckland last week so they can vaccinate high risk people in the community, but the real question needs to really be why some border workers still seem to be finding it an issue being vaccinated.
I don't really understand why this can be a problem, especially when many of the vaccination centres are MIQ facilities.. But it seems pretty clear that it is.

Really makes you feel confident in "the team of 5 million" being vaccinated by end of 2021 doesn't it?

It seems pretty simple to fix to me. You dispatch 2 qualified nurses and an admin person to each company twice in a fortnight. Basically, take the vaccines to them. The cost of this would be fractional compared to even a single day of lockdown in Auckland.
If there is a will, there is a way.

The decision to not use AZ and move to pfizer for under 50s has left a big hole in their vaccine supply
The announcement on Friday of 20 million addition doses of Pfizer (10 million courses) wont be in Aust until Q4,
Australia initially had 5 million pfizer doses (2.5 million courses to be delivered "early 2021" )
In Feb they added an additional 5 million doses to that contract, but that delivery isn't due until "the second half of 2021"
So until at least July Australia only has the capacity to vaccinate 2.5 million under 50s ( I think I read there are around 12 million in the 18-50 age group).

just theorizing - it could be subject to how much resuscitation equipment they need to carry and which resuscitation personnel is required to be present at the vaccination "site"

This is so true across the board and I have never understood why the people in charge of such projects never seem to understand this. It applies to every kind of endeavour, but the big IT failures are the ones that stand out most. How can any normal person still think that something so complex cannot possibly go wrong?
