With Level 3 on its way I am looking forward to putting my bike on the back of the Rav and taking a short trip so I can ride it. I wont ride on the road as I cannot look behind me to see if a Mack truck is looming up. It will be a great boost to wellbeing.

You are right and I should have got these before lockdown. I was not really using the bike before lockdown but my efforts to boost my mobility over the last few weeks have paid real dividends and I am in a position to use my bike. The bike shops all appear to be closed or the mirrors are

not deemed essential items. As soon as able I will get some and see how it goes.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

And looking across to the geek toys thread elsewhere, you can also get helmet-mounted HUD displays that work with a camera clipped to the back of the helmet, if you're a gadget freak.

If there were many well-documented cases of people catching covid-19 from their groceries and mail etc, I would adopt very strict procedures with regard to cleaning these items. However, the Herald article linked to above is well worth reading and may reassure people that there appears to be minimal risks in catching covid-19 from groceries and I'm certainly not aware of any NZ documented cases of this happening. Thousands of people are visiting supermarkets every day and I'm sure not all of them are carrying out a deep clean of all their purchases.

You need to find a way to manage yourself so that you don't get burnt out. You need to be able to get some valuable time with your family. Perhaps a scheduled break in the middle of the day to some family stuff? Work can, if you allow it, expand to the time allocated to it.

Instead of Hawaii, what is there in New Zealand (or perhaps Australia) that you would like to do or go and see? Make a list. When this is over we are going to need all those that can afford to to be doing the "See your country before you leave home" thing.

Perhaps in the short term your goal is to make the best job you can of working under the current conditions to be in the best place you can be when things pick up?

Re-framing our aspirations and goals is very important for most of us at this time.

I probably made it sound like I am working 18 hours a day and not spending time with the family, which isn't the case. Having said that, I want to do my part, which includes ensuring that companies that can remote remotely, do so effectively. Not all staff are working during office hours, because of their living or personal situation. If they have an issue, I want to ensure it's resolved so that they can be effective. A lot of companies are having a hard time, I am here to do what I can. It can be all-encompassing, but also pretty rewarding.

It's really a case of not yet having enough information to determine what my next big thing is. I suspect the pacific will open up which may give us an opportunity to travel, though there are parts of NZ like Nelson I'd like to explore more completely as well.

I popped into the supermarket last night after doing the nightly security check at my mother’s place (86 and she still never locks her front door!), got to the checkout and... realised I was wearing my pyjamas and Crocs!

I am thankful I am in a different line of work right now. I could not have gone through another financial crisis and very high unemployment. The pain of the previous ones and the faces of hardship are still etched in my memory. My heart goes out to those who have lost their jobs and my heart goes out to folks at MSD and other social services trying help.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

What I found most shocking of all was the fact that there was a definite and deliberate reference to Crocs!

Nobody would've notice if he had no pants on, with those on his feet!

I have lived a sheltered life I think. I had to Google Crocs. My initial thoughts were why would one wear a crocodile on their feet.
