Whilst I'm 100% in favour of everyone getting vaccinated, I think that forcing them to raises ethical issues, and therefore political issues for the government. But it may be a nettle that they have to grasp.

It works for drivers licences, firearms licences, seat belts, as well as the other myriad of laws we have to obey.

Does it though ?

If I only consider where I live for the moment there are plenty of people driving without licences, I can almost guarantee there are people with guns they aren't licenced to own and I see people not wearing seatbelts on a daily basis.

Don't get me started on people driving whilst talking on mobile phones.

I'd love to see everyone vaccinated but the simple fact is you can't, and shouldn't, force people to do it. Educate, encourage and even incentivise if you have to but don't force.

Damnit, even if it is linked to the border, if it's Delta then this is going to happen very quickly.

I suspect we will action as if it is Delta rather than wait.

I was just waiting for a new local case right before the OCR announcement when it looked like they may have increased interest rates. But it is obviously just bad luck.

I can't see how Auckland can't go into level 3 at least, as no link to border has yet been established.

Expect to see huge lines for vaccinations now and testing, and more scanning which should have been compulsory when we learnt how bad delta was.

But don't' forget that Wellington has had a Delta case and noone appears to have caught it from them. But that case could be traced back.

I didn't say force them to vaccinate. I said that if we all want to participate in driving, etc, etc, etc, we are often mandated to comply with laws. I dont see an issue

There's a range from vaccinated people I know. From feeling quite unwell and having a fever to losing the sense of taste to just a bit of a headache.

Nothing that I'd normally go to the doctor for, except the taste thing. They all recovered fully in 1-2 weeks.

There's also almost certainly a large number of vaccinated people who become infected but are asymptomatic - ie no reported symptoms at all.

Could be tested for retrospectively by serology, but in populations with high rates of transmission then they could only guess if the infection was before or after vaccination.

Sure. This is from my friends and colleagues experiences not a comprehensive summary.

Best to do that right now, even if we know stuff all about it. Right now, spread is more the issue than an investigation on one person. Shut the gate now, and when said investigation gives more data, the gate can be amended

Auckland again, hopefully this person is a scanner, precious few in Auckland are.
Recent sports events which would have generated higher levels of intercity travel may be a concern.

I'd have thought someone with direct contact with border or with patents being treated in hospital would be the start.
Even Tauranga port.
Someone with no known contact so far, oh my.

So with or without KFC ?
