AirNZ is making it a condition. I guess the unvaccinated can fly JetStar (for the time being).

I find it wildly ironic that our Government-owned national airline won't let unvaccinated fly (which I 100% agree with) but will accept 25% of its staff may not be vaccinated.

All Air NZ did was pip the govt to announce govt policy.  From the 1st Nov you need to be fully vaccinated to enter NZ, and many other countries already have that requirement. Those that don't have that already will do soon.

Air NZ mandating vaccines is a bit like them making a rule mandating passports - because without one you're not going to be flying anywhere!

Legality of vaccinated vs unvaccinated in the workforce is a job for the govt to legalise.

It would be interesting to know whether the booking web site is still defaulting to a six week interval. I personally opted for three weeks because I felt like this was going to get out of control sooner or later.

Yes it is. With no shortage of vaccines now I really don't know why we haven't followed other countries who made the same move (extending the gap because of reduced vaccine supply) and then reversed it. Victoria changed back from 6 weeks to 3 weeks late last week.

Right now we need as many people as possible to be double dosed as soon as possible. Those who are beyond 3 weeks from their first jab should be getting their 2nd ASAP.

is it to much to hope that he gets time in jail just so he can see what losing your freedom is really like, plus it would make me very happy.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

Couple of key points:

- Air NZ policy (so far) is only for international travel, and only kicks in in Feb 2022.

- NZ government is only mandating vaccination from non-citizen arrivals.

Except that efficacy is better with larger gaps. So why race to get a pile of people vaccinated with lower efficacy? Just increases the likelihood boosters need to be provided earlier.

Presumably unvaccinated citizen/resident arrivals will be denied the opportunity to self-isolate when they arrive - once borders start opening up.

Which is basically a cop out as currently only Citizens and PR can get access to MIQ,  So the actual impact will be minimal...

I don’t. They are following the law and making a reasonable assumption. Businesses can not mandate vaccination without justification. A lot of their roles would have no requirement for vaccination.

Well...Auckland to remain at level 3 but with the ability to meet others outside up to a maximum of 10 people.

Seems...rubbish.

Technofreak:

From the Spinoff

Speaking yesterday at an unscheduled press conference, the prime minister didn’t rule out a move to level two for Auckland this week despite two new infections detected south of the city. With swathes of Waikato now in level three lockdown, Jacinda Ardern said the delta outbreak that started in August has now “essentially ended” and the country faces a second outbreak centred around five active sub-clusters.

I'm not sure I get the logic. That's not how I recall things were presented during previous lockdowns.

i'm lost for words.

may i bring your attention back to that weekend when Dr AB and Deputy Health Minister declared we have reached the peak and cases will start to decrease after that weekend.

that weekend marks the beginning of end of the cluster as declared by the powers that be.

Today's press conference leaves me speechless.

It's a bloody shambles.

By February next year I’d expect some international travel to be happening without MIQ.
