Wow you now have a smartphone

Wow? Can you please stop these nonsensical posts. This is Geekzone not Farcebook. I would be offended by that putdown. Now, I had a bitch session with @Tealeaf last night about petty posts. Its not nice to name and shame, but it wasn't him.

Post away, be humourous, show your bias, all cool. But please be somewhat serious. Globally the deaths are almost the NZ population, its not worthy of this type of post. Having said that, there is room for everyone, but please be respectful.

Batman: Most important thing is can it be frauded/is it fraud proof

It will need to be. It has access to the production dataset of vaccines, patient info + identification services.
Even if it is Beta, it is public facing and should have full security protections in place.

100%. Nothing is secure, we all know that, so as long as they make it as secure as they can, Im ok with that.

I would think that a lot of the events where it will be mandated, most of the ticketing will be mobile orientated anyway - if you  can't bring up your entry ticket, then you are kinda screwed anyway :)

Print out your ticket at home - print out your C19 vaxxed cert at the same time :)

Teething issues, its the same for all IT stuff. Nature of the beast. Maybe Im wrong but the card is available later? Asking that as we will all go the app way here, but Id get a card as well, as a backup.

But you'll be allowed to go into the dairy if it is..! 😁

And probably get it free as they run away!

On a serious note, the vaccine iD isnt for dairies (unless they want to), its for large events

I guess this was to be expected:

https://www.stuff.co.nz/business/126572618/golden-bay-cafe-hiring-only-unvaccinated-workers-makes-vaccinated-customers-sit-outside

A cafe owner refusing to hire vaccinated workers to staff his Golden Bay business could be a danger to the small community, an expert says.
The owner of the Mad Theartre cafe and art centre is an Australian who goes by the name of Nganga.
Nganga sought applicants for front of house roles at his cafe in a local paper with an advertisement that read, “only non-jab applicants need apply”.

...

Nganga’s view of vaccinations does not only extend to his staff but also his customers.
If a vaccinated customer came in, they would not be allowed inside the cafe, and would have to sit at an outside table, Nganga said.
He defended his hiring policy as being “selective, not discriminative”.

DonH:

Any unvaccinated person attending a mass event will be at significant risk of being infected by an infected but asymptomatic vaccinated person. I have little sympathy for them. My only concerns are for any of their loved ones who might be unvaccinatable, and the health care resources they'll require.

I agree but what can you do, you can only hand feed people so much. The latter, if most are vaccinated, the hospital bed issue is hugely helped.

Is it time we had a -1 on Geekzone?

Like I said later, its ok to be a bit this or a bit that, but this is probably the most serious topic here and ironically Mr B created it.

-1 would probably be abused though, lets rely on common sense and self discipline by our other members

Wow. Legally he may well have a right to that. If so, I guess go for gold? It reminds me of a US town, where someone wore a mask and was shamed by everyone else there. Im fine with his stance, we are an equal society, it will make his accountants job a bit easier. But still, wow.

Edit , I.d stand across the street and look at the line of people, if you are far away enough, its a far queue.

So I've created a MyHealth account using my ISP (Xtra.co.nz) email. Great. Has my records (although no batch numbers?)

But... when I try to do the same thing to set up an account for my wife... it states the email is already in use and won't go any further.

We have had the same "home" email address for near on 25+ years. She doesn't have any other email other than the one needed to create an Apple account which has never been used since.

Is there no way for additional family members to use the same email address that both (in our case) has been "our" email since forever?

Curiously, we both have RealMe accounts already and both use out home @xtra.co.nz based email fine.

Is that the other option? Wait for RealMe to come back up and log in there and link it?

tdgeek: but it wasn't him.

I knew that Bro. I was just trying to get in the way to distract :-). Everybody was upset last night/today, it is an emotional and scary time for all of us.

Thanks for clarifying what you meant by the efficiacy not being important. I agree we will all need boosters. But point I was meaning is that if those whose 2nd vaxx nearly soon may get pushed out 3months+ waiting for the rest to catch up, so those boosters should be made available to those early up takers first, given the wane in efficacy. Hope that clarifies what I was meaning.

I think more so if like MikeB4 (your not alone and we were brave to get the vax and we will beat this), myself and others are in high risk groups. This is mostly why Im so annoyed there is no accountability for those flouting the rules here in Auckland. I do not have good chances should I get a big viral load a month or two after the 2nd shot given my issues.

Again, footpaths are packed, very very few people wearing masks. They need to make it any point where you cross within 2m of others you need a mask.

I was being humorous over fines and jail time, but they did do it during the spanish flu...... Which could include those delinerately not wearing an approved mask correctly. After seeing some science on masks, none are perfect, but I sense respirators, ventiliated masks still and people wearing buffs etc which going by the cbc news did a scientific comparison recently and showed they have major holes in the weave at a micro level. So if the police arent enforcing it, who is going to?

So its over the shore, well Rodney now with Red Beach being an LOI.

Is there any news on using rapid swab DIY testing for essential workers and border crossers yet?

Peace all, lets stay tight as a team.

I’ve heard through the grapevine that there is a programme offering $200 worth of vouchers for folks to get vaccinated at the Vodafone events centre across today and tomorrow. Not too sure if that’s true or not but nevertheless, it’s a clever inducement to get folks to vaccinate and vaccinate now.
