The whole "there is no rush for us to be vaccinated because there is no Covid in NZ" message that we had drummed into us to justify the incredibly slow vaccine rollout really is coming back to haunt us.

What an abject distortion of facts to suit a political agenda.

Wrong thread.  Go here.

They've gone and gotten themselves into a bit of a public relations disaster situation.

It'll be interesting to see how they try to extricate themselves.

Lots of people are also using the Helix filters inserts in washable masks which is s slightly more cost effective option. Places like Cactus, Meo and Earth sea Sky (just to name a few of the big players) all make these for the Helix filters.

Some have also given up and sold them on clearance (platypus), because the filter prices spiked and then become hard to obtain supply

If we were that far ahead, then instead of me and others getting their second jab we would be asking, its been 6 months where is my booster. Same issue, different time.

Speaking of masks I know a few people who have switched to using Lanaco masks in recent weeks. Mine arrived this week and I have to say the Breezy masks are IMHO the best masks I've tried so far - and more importantly they have the real benefit of having a highly effective Helix filter which is vastly more effective than a regular cotton or even a surgical mask.

Lots of people are also using the Helix filters inserts in washable masks which is s slightly more cost effective option. Places like Cactus, Meo and Earth sea Sky (just to name a few of the big players) all make these for the Helix filters.

I’m using air pop which has a section of folded silicon that sits around the bridge of your nose, preventing condensation on my glasses. Wouldn’t pay retail for them though

Sigh, my local Maccas (which does most of the Uber Eats Maccas orders for North West Auckland) has had a case working there, LOIs from 29/09 to 5/10.

Luckily Kiwis are restrained and didn't go absolutely nuts for fast food when we dropped to L3 or else that could be really really bad.

Oh wait.

DHB and MOH problems.
I think some of the problems we had with MOH/DHB being very slow to implement sensible controls.
Ministers being caught out, blindsided by early problems in progress on masking, vaccination, testing etc.
Cabinet decided X should be done, months later zero to no progress.

DHB Management and MOH Management and the types more akin to the comedy 'Yes Minister'.
They are in the income and social bracket of your natural therapy, essential oil, crystal magic green school types.
Dragging the chain on implementation with all the stupid comments that MIQ and MIQ bus drivers don't want to wear masks, get tests etc.

It was the administrators putting their own phobias on their underlings, who then had to rat them out to the media to get things done.
So you had comments that people did not want to this and that when it was never offered, or even made made difficult.

Less can do , and more can't do.  Same with mandates .

The full story about the Katikati would be nice.

https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/new-zealand/2021/10/coronavirus-person-in-katikati-tests-positive-for-covid-19.html

The Ministry of Health says the person got tested while in Auckland on Friday and it returned positive on Saturday while the person is in Katikati. The Bay of Plenty is currently under alert level 2.

The case lives in Pukekohe and is in the process of moving to a rural area north of Katikati, near to Tauranga. For this reason, the person was permitted to cross the boundary in and out of Auckland.

Yes I think everywhere becomes level 3 while Auckland in level 2 or step 2 or whatever it's called. Reversal of the last 2 months.

Cases stable. Too many flouting but not enough to blow it out. My feel, is that it will spread, thanks to those...., but the normal people will contain it well, leaving the rest to let it simmer

Thats how its playing out.
