Under-reporting of deaths limits our understanding of true burden of covid-19
https://www.bmj.com/content/375/bmj.n2239

Some huge under-reporting from some countries, with just a few % deaths reported.

Why are they allowing people to travel to the S.I. when the traffic light system is not ready to go????
Most people I’ve spoken with are not interested in lockdowns when every precaution is not being taken to keep the risk down of it coming to S.I.
I had contact with a few people who were in Blenheim couple days ago, here’s hoping it is not spreading.
Or why are people allowed to cross the border without being vaccinated, including essential workers. People have now had enough time. It increases the risk to all NZers.
Isn't Rotorua Level 2 and SI Level 2? Whats the difference travelling from Rotorua to Blenheim, or Rotorua to Kapiti or Christchurch to Dunedin?

325,000 get booster in 1 day in UK https://www.theguardian.com/world/live/2021/oct/24/coronavirus-live-uk-travel-rules-lateral-flow-test-covid-latest-updates-boris-johnson-plan-b
google says UK has a smaller size in km2 than NZ!

Geektastic: "Sir Dave Dobbyn reveals vaccination views"
Thank heaven! At last. I've been on tenterhooks. Why did he wait so long. Stunning and brave. Etc
Yeah, I believe thousands of vac-relucters have been waiting, like you, for him to come out and make his call. Now they'll all flock to the jab-centre. Job's a good 'un.
Seriously though, the more that well-known people lend support like this, the better. Doesn't do any harm - it's only the silly way it's reported that gets up the nose.
Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
Batman: Regarding Auckland vaccination requiring all 3 dhbs to hit 90%.
How about open 2/3 of the city where the dhbs have hit over 90% and keep the other one locked down, it will get it over 90% guaranteed
Doesn't work in Auckland - decade of housing issues means many Aucklanders now mega-commute from all over the district. Also, the South has our supermarket DCs, courier logistics depots, etc. We can't lock down the CMDHB district without severely disrupting the rest of the city.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.
109 cases today. So much for things trending downwards :(

Suburb based lockdowns won't work, tried and failed in London and Sydney. Our region based lockdowns are only just holding out but I doubt for longer.
they don't work for eliminating or even containing covid,
but they sure worked for NSW and Victoria for getting the vaccination rates up.
as soon as freedom is used as a carrot and stick people seem to go and get vaccinated.

i've always been taught growing up - when there's a will there's a way. just lock it down, open up the others, deal with the logistics later, and what do you know, people who can't go out would suddenly get the urge to get vaccinated!
