tdgeek:Isn't Rotorua Level 2 and SI Level 2? Whats the difference travelling from Rotorua to Blenheim, or Rotorua to Kapiti or Christchurch to Dunedin?
The pseudo press we have here in Aotearoa could help curb the antivaccination lobby by not giving them airtime or column centimeters. Going after anti vaccination folk wont help as it gives them the attention they seek, ignore them abut continue educating the rest of the population and promote the benefits and safety of covid vaccines.
Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

i've always been taught growing up - when there's a will there's a way. just lock it down, open up the others, deal with the logistics later, and what do you know, people who can't go out would suddenly get the urge to get vaccinated!
How do you do that? people live in one DHB and work in another, there are potentially hundreds of streets that connect each DHB area, do you want them all manned to stop people moving around? do people even know where the DHB borders are?
You live in Dunedin and likely have little clue how hard it would be to facilitate this and how much disruption this would have.
Better to just go back to level 4
There were anti Vaxxers outside Christchurch hospital on Saturday holding signs, first sign was “Did you know?” Then different people holding up other signs with misinformation.
Seemed to be against children being vaccinated.
Car behind me was honking I guess in support, for goodness sake. Even though a minority enough of them to cause trouble.

The "waiting for Novavax" is an excuse given by antivaxxers.
If/when Novavax is here they will wait for something else.
They should really call their bluff by getting some in somehow and invite them to come on down for a dose.
Love the idea!

If they were so keen on it why don't try to import it like they did with Ivermectin? I bet they don't.

Actually come to think of it most of them are not really anti vaxxers. Because when asked, they deny being anti vaxxers and just give an excuse like being cautious or waiting for a better vaccine.
They don't have the guts or conviction of their beliefs to come straight out and say they are anti vaccine. Then they have to be able to justify their position which I'm sure most of them are not able to do. It's impossible to get a rational answer out of them. They start rambling on about the government wanting to take control of our lives and remove our freedoms. I'm yet to figure out how being vaccinated does that.

That is why I was amazed to see a story last night on TV One news. IMO it was just ridiculous.

Either that, or "I'm not anti-vaxx, I'm pro-freedom of choice". Do they know the vaccine doesn't care about things like that?
My Mum tonight (who is finally fully vaccinated) and I were talking about the mayors who aren't vaccinated and she said she respects them for making the decision to not get vaccinated, but she would expect people to respect her decision to get vaccinated as well. Unless I missed something I don't quite follow the logic.

Apparently something to do with the 'both sides of the story' When the reasons for not having it are apparently mythically equally justified. And therefore equally allowed and meant to be respected..
I just wrote up another long stfu post about 3 different 'I heardism' posters about 'all the people being silenced' they 'knew' or 'heard' about suffering adverse effects... That no doubt have NEVER notified anyone and been one of the 25,000 reports that are publicly published because it's a sham 0.o Never got to fight false with reality, they shut it down because it was starting to get nasty.
It also had multiple people repeating the 'more vaccinated people die' line - from the UK pile of pooh that they're using that has been debunked a few times - weekly hospitalisation reprots including all fatalities (not just covid), but unfortunately breaks them down to their vaccination status also. And since most the population is, well... But no. It's easy artillery now.
