There were certainly examples of people just rocking up to the airport and flying earlier in the Auckland Event.

You'd like to think that has been stopped, but......

MileHighKiwi:
Batman: Some people without photo id have difficulty getting vaccine certificates

https://i.stuff.co.nz/national/health/coronavirus/126801452/covid19-worries-vaccine-certificates-wont-be-attainable-for-all-vaccinated-kiwis

Unbelievable they have only worked on vaccine certificates for 3 months. Surely somewhere deep in the pandemic plan we have a chapter on how to verify that someone has been vaccinated? It really feels like we're making this up as we go. We are also very slow due to the numerous 'stakeholders' you have to work with in this country. Have to consult 100 people first, write some reports, make sure no one feels left out.

From the bottom of the Stuff article

The ID options are a New Zealand’s driver’s licence, New Zealand or Australian passport or birth certificate, a New Zealand citizenship certificate or a RealMe account.

”The six options provided are those that we can use securely to validate and trust proof of identity.”

Dreyer said once certificates were available the Ministry would set up an 0800 number and face-to-face help for those who were fully vaccinated but didn’t have the accepted forms of ID.

He or she must have been exempt and got a negative test, that's the requirements? Either a false negative or got infected up there after the test and prior to boarding. Its only one not both, the second is flatmate, plus one or they went to another household too

Herald states they had an exemption to travel to look after a child. Plus a negative test prior, but I believe this is the 2nd time a pre flight negative test has resulted in a positive after landing.

Probably something to do with kissing and hugging as many people as you possibly can on the last day before leaving... After you've had the test.

And yes, colleague flew down the other day and somebody was booted off from behind them because they didn't realise they needed an exemption

So checks are in progress

Does MoH add LOI's to the app if they havent scanned? So we can all get retrospective alerts after the fact?

I'm surprised that people leaving Auckland on travel exemptions aren't required to be vaccinated.

FWIW I flew from CHCH to Rotorua on Saturday morning and Tauranga to CHCH on Tuesday midday and regardless of the closesness to Auckland & Waikato not once did I see or hear anything about Covid.

Face masks in the airport and on the plane was it. I realise exemptions are not needed from those airports but goes to show without a hard border round Waikato, how easy it would have been to get on a plane.

MaxineN: [Looking at RNZ it mentioned that they did not use the COVID tracer app regularly.

This is going to be fun! /S

And "That person had been back in Christchurch for a week and had been unwell for a while"

How many bloody times do they tell us.

This is to show that yes, there are things to blame on the government of the day, but surely some amount of blame goes into stupidity.

I understand that but you know there is not a border around Waikato right? Goes to show if you drove from Te Awamutu or Hamilton to Rotorua you could fly south very easily.

Nobody asks where you have been prior to travel

If you tell them now they'll add it to their notebook and maybe make it to the todo list by the end of next week.

As expected.

Vaccinologist Helen Petousis-Harris said pregnant women were at high risk of complications and of losing their baby should they get Covid-19.

“I think it is a very selfish position to take if you are not taking all precautions to keep these women safe,” she said.

Well 2 people in my household are now inelligble. Why only Australasian passports when virtually all other places will take any valid passport? Just like the large scale vaccine clinic not offering non-English language support, I'm guessing the 0800 number will only be available in English and probably can just say "too bad you 2nd class foreigners"....

After so much time with all the powers of the government to work on this it does feel somewhat comical.

If they can't get something as simple as this right I'm going to start stocking up on my own bottled oxygen now for when they *try* to manage the takeover of the health system from the DHBs...

Can't really see CHC escaping at least a short level 3 to track and trace there movements

The traveller from Auckland arrived n October 15... that's nearly 2 weeks ago,  unless they are a recluse hermit this will have spread further...
