The free prescriptions get you in the door, the wait will always be at least a certain amount of time. E.g enough time for you to shop the retail and buy stuff that is “cheap”. You end up walking out of the shop having spent $50, when you went to spend nothing. And the buzzer is to keep you in the store rather then leaving and comming back.

Just standard retail tactics really

Yes true, same as all other chemists except cheaper and better selection of goods available at better prices to browse. I buy something extra every visit. Good socks there! Overall this new service works really well for me. Compared to missing the call out if a call out was made at all and wandering around looking at things I would hardly ever buy or need.

$100 @ $5 per item?? 20 separate things in one order?

Yes.

Never mind, bought something from an Auckland chemist and in their tracking email, saw they do free prescriptions AND free shipping, so they are now our chemist.

Great service from them too, they rang to discuss one of the items dr ahd prescribed.

Pakaranga Pharmacy.

Bought some ointment I use every now and then just recently, fast post and then I got an email saying thank you for your orders and support.

Nice of them, the ointment (not a prescription) was free post too.
