An important milestone:

The Washington Post - Covid-19 live updates - Vaccination program for children 5 to 11 will be in full swing Nov. 8

breaking

The government’s vaccination program for children ages 5 to 11 will be fully running Nov. 8, said Jeff Zients, the White House coronavirus coordinator, at a news conference Monday.

The announcement comes just days after the Food and Drug Administration authorized coronavirus vaccines for U.S. children ages 5 to 11 on Friday.

About 28 million children ages 5 to 11 are eligible for the shots.

From yesterday's presser:  Pfizer expected to apply to NZ Medsafe in the next fortnight

Dr Ashley Bloomfield: Well, it’s an important step for the USA. Of course, now it’s being considered by the CDC there, in their advice to Government about use. What will  move us closer will be when Pfizer puts in an application, and we haven’t got that yet but we’re expecting it in the next two weeks. And, obviously, the FDA assessment and their decision will be one of the bits of evidence and information that Medsafe will use here to—

Big retail here... our stores are full of click & collect orders being stored up and down all our aisles because we don't have space back of house. There are hundreds/thousands of orders waiting collection by customers in every single one of our Auckland stores. The week will just give us enough time to clear through these: call people to pick them up/send them out for delivery/cancel orders and put product back on shelf. We physically could not open and have customers inside because there's no space for them.

not trying to be mean here but that is a you problem, if the AL changed today you would do what needed to be done to open as soon as you could. I would suggest there are a lot more businesses that could open tomorrow than those in your position.

Of course, and we've just done it in the Waikato region with the day's notice. My point is people seem to think you can open on a dime - there's more to it than just throwing the doors open.

I think a lot of smaller businesses or those who have had small click & collect volume could easily open tomorrow yes. But your big boys that most people shop at (Bunnings, Mitre 10, The Warehouse, Noel Leeming, Warehouse Stationery etc) are all in pretty similar positions.

But while some business groups are calling for a quicker easing of restrictions, health experts are nervous about whether Auckland is ready for a loosening of the rules.

The ongoing tug of war goes on

20K total 2nds so not terrible but it's the 1st doses in CMDHB which is the main focus for Auckland. There's no mention of this in the statement.

  • Vaccines administered to Auckland residents yesterday: 8,623: 2,007 first doses; 6,616 second doses

18 in the Waikato.
As we go into Farm, Horticulture, Fruit peak periods where people work closely together.
Hopefully the RSE workers who were allowed to travel with one vaccination are quicky getting second.

Then you have meatworks and cold processing chains which have been vulnerable overseas.

Last week it was messaging about antivax being nice misunderstood people and harmless.
This week we see increasing violence to add to nutcasery of antivax adherents.

I separate out the roundtiits, and hesitant who get caught up in the sheer volume of antivax, magnetic 3G nuttery.

But the poor misunderstood antivaxxers pushing conspiracies with venom, and now violence.
Nah, May they and roast in a roasty place

Now wait for the idiotic American parents (mostly Republicans) to jump up and down about vaccines being given to their children...but I bet you they were all vaccinated when they were kids as well with 0 problems.

Unfortunately it was  I need to give accredited media a chance, then 'lets move this inside' and 'I'm going to go to the toilet' as a final 'Get me outta here'

The RNZ stream video on youtube has them checking his ID etc after. I could hear the Israel stuff from their video and thought he was on a totally different tangent. But apparently the vaccine doesn't work there... Also others yelling in background. "You have no authority over Ngāpuhi

They are now updating all the DHB data daily

CMDHB is just under 4K doses shy of 90%, (1st) -  down 800 on yesterday , so at that rate they are about a week from hitting the target...

Then its on to 2nds...

Yeah that's what I was shooting at. The 1st 90s is a nice to see. But it's not a guarantee or the eyed target. The followups that are important. 'When the DHBs reach 90% FULL vaccination' aka doubles.

CDHB...

74% 75,066

Suddenly we're going to be the holdup

"Sir I will shut down the press conference if this continues."

... Its a real shame she had to use the word "sir". Politeness is in the PM's nature & part of her popularity, but I don't think extremists should be given any reference that insinuates they're worthy or of it or even there to have an actual conversation.
