If red is "like Level 2" then why did we not just stick with the Level system?

so the areas with a large maori population who wont get vaccinated , nothing to do with cases or transmission.

It was always going to be focused on the percentages. Hence the initial 90 target to reach, But since that idea was blown out of the water. Here we are

Interestingly however was spun back on them, the tighter restrictions along the lines of they are for the un-vaccinated  - 'this is what we need to do to protect you'

i always thought getting jabbed was what protected you, this is a kick in the teeth for the majority of people who got vaccinated and now it seems like it was a waste of time because in Rotorua with no transmission and a lot of the suburbs at nearly 90% we have gone to tighter restrictions than we have now.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

in Practice that's impossible now,

I guess that is true actually. Not sure how else they could do it, but I see us doing a fair amount of choosing to eat outside or get food takeaways over summer.

You'll get used to the risk.

For each individual it was low before vaccination and if you are vaccinated the chances of ending up in hospital is extremely low.

They probably didn't think about it too much.

Best to find some kid to message PM during one of the bedtime live streams

It's not an online system?!

Not for our local ones no.

I'm not *too* worried for myself, the potential isolation requirements are far more onerous than the potential for getting it or are exposed if we are careful, though we have one in the house who is too young to be vaccinated and we are pretty keen to keep her safe.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

Unless she has comorbidities the chances of a child getting really sick is very low. It certainly hasn't happened to anyone at our school, or to any kids we know, and we've had plenty of kids get covid. It's very different for the elderly.

There aren't *many* kids that end up in hospital, but some do get really sick. They almost all recover, but I'd rather try my best to avoid exposure if we can. If you are the 1 in 1000......

i think it's to get rid of level 4.

while the effect is the same between colour and level, the definitions are different.

plus one would want to draw attention away from the ever increasingly confusing steps, and microsteps and versions, this is a clean start and people will forget.

Like I said you get used to the risk and behave sensibly but still live life. There really isn't much choice other than living like a hermit, which creates other problems, particularly for kids.

We've had this for nearly 2 years so we are used to it.

So how do you go to the pub at level 3?

The traffic light system isn't the same at all.

I can't. It won't list any of the local facilities. It only offers things 50+ km away in Wellington/Hutt instead of 15 km away in Masterton.

Booked my Booster on-line with no issues in Masterton for 1015 tomorrow morning. 33 slots available.

Edit, Suggest you just pitch up to Chapel Street and ask

You might as well be careful in your situation until kids vaccines are a go hey.

The way people look at Covid is constantly changing, there is this continuum of how tolerant of risk folks are. For my part, we did everything we could to avoid it for a long time.

As with many people I am in a risk group if / when I get Covid. So after I was fully vaccinated, I decided to have more of a outside and around other people profile, my thinking being, that the best time to catch it is when I have fresh Pfizer on board. This coincided with a local outbreak.

But once the announcement about boosters came, I was no longer in a rush to at least get some covid exposure. Btw I am not talking breaking any rules here or any stupid risk taking. Just living normally as much as the rules allow.

I personally cannot wait till kids qualify, although I am glad we are behind other countries, lets see some data first.

Just keep swimming...
