msukiwi:

Got my booster at Church Corner Woolworths Pharmacy.

Great service from them.

However on leaving going through a checkout and saying to the lady there that I had a covid booster only,

she moved back and said "Say away from me!"

Not the reaction I was expecting!

If all she picked up was "got" and "Covid" then her reaction would be understandable.

I'm sure we've all done workplace compliance courses that quite clearly state you cannot discriminate someone based off medicinal conditions etc right?

I would think a public statement like that would be borderline down the road material in most places.

Afterall it was those same vocal people that fought against being targeted for the opposite

Nope, I clarified that I had "just had the covid vaccine booster at the pharmacy"!

There was a famous story during the AIDS epidemic where someone from an African nation created a panic when he returned home and officials saw his US Legal Aid Certificate. This is routinely issued to people who are receiving subsidised legal advice. The above interaction sounds similar to that.

Or the paediatrician in Britain who was reportedly mistaken for a paedophile & had their house vandalised, during a time of genuine concerns about kiddy-fiddlers.

"I regret to say that we of the F.B.I. are powerless to act in cases of oral-genital intimacy, unless it has in some way obstructed interstate commerce." — J. Edgar Hoover

"Create a society that values material things above all else. Strip it of industry. Raise taxes for the poor and reduce them for the rich and for corporations. Prop up failed financial institutions with public money. Ask for more tax, while vastly reducing public services. Put adverts everywhere, regardless of people's ability to afford the things they advertise. Allow the cost of food and housing to eclipse people's ability to pay for them. Light blue touch paper." — Andrew Maxwell

A doctor who spread vaccine misinformation and then played victim when caught is struck off and fined. Good job.

I'm sure the millions of dedicated YT followers she boasts about will be happy to chip in to cover the costs.

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

Good to see the medical council doing its job.

Heck yeah. If we don't have professions, like medics but all the others too, sticking to a fact-based world view then we all deserve to have a course of leeches prescribed.

What amazes me is how would someone be able to pass exams and all the practical achievements etc.
That no red flags come up in training and residency.

Surely student doctors have to be up to date on vaccinations and show they are willing to give them.
Can give good sound advice and get no tolerance of wildly alternative facts on viruses and vaccinology.

Given that we have many applicants for places, its not like we have a shortage that we can't dump the dodgy. Its training places we have a critical shortage, making further training of dodgy even worse waste.

Theoretically we have difficult hurdles for overseas doctors to qualify as well.
Still we ended up with a US original doctor who setup in the field of weight loss.
Apparently raving antivax, and pro magical alternatives, given in USA weight loss is a lucrative alternative medicine field.

Covid and the new mRNA technology allowed the crazies a wedge to run the line "this is not like you normal vaccines"

- because of the newness of the technology the rabbit hole was wide open and it gobbled up some people who quite happily accepted "traditional" vaccinations as being fine....

i'm not sure if there would be any.

people react differently under those conditions. i'm not sure if you could test people and then reject them. we have seen the same issue across the board.
