So... now we wait for the daily tally. We have been told to expect it to climb before it starts reducing, but it still leaves me with a knot in the stomach. And that's kind of illogical, as a large increase could mean - not that it's out of control - but that we're being efficient in contact tracing and testing.
So let's keep positive.  There's no point being negative.

It will climb for two weeks or so due to the lag between exposure and becoming symptomatic. What we are seeing today is cases of people who were exposed, developed symptoms and then tested. We are only really now cutting down the avenues for exposure so it will take time for that to reflect in the daily numbers of infected.

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) Here's How YOU Can Help Find a Cure for COVID-19!

Folding@Home website

Folding@home (FAH or F@h) is a distributed computing project for simulating protein dynamics, including the process of protein folding and the movements of proteins implicated in a variety of diseases. It brings together citizen scientists who volunteer to run simulations of protein dynamics on their personal computers. Insights from this data are helping scientists to better understand biology, and providing new opportunities for developing therapeutics.

With the Mad Butcher now having to shut down govt should buy up all the meat for distribution to those that need it in this time of isolation.

With Mad Butcher shut down I now, see the local super market no longer has any meat on special.

Supermarkets are open. No need for this.

I think issuing the daily tally as if it were some sort of competition is not going to keep our mental health in a good place. Especially if it starts including deaths.

Perhaps they should move to trends rather than specifics.

Yep - I wonder about that too.  But I do think the information should be available and as transparent and complete as possible - if you do want to see it.  Maybe just not pushed in our faces the way it has been.
If good information isn't available, then people make stuff up - and that's dangerous.

It is a constant reminder to stupid people that others are dying and they better stay inside.

Is anybody here able to help? Or know someone who is able to clarify?

This is from Air NZ official website.

After 27 March, you will need to check that you qualify to travel under the essential services list before you book your ticket or go to the airport. We are doing everything we can to help get New Zealanders and our customers home.

The issue I have is why are we allowing one group to profit, and not another?

I am all for controlled distribution, but I feel the supermarkets are absolutely taking advantage of this monopoly.  We normally buy fresh produce from the local markets but obviously cannot do this.  Today buying a tiny broccoli head the size of my palm for $3.00 ($1.50) & a bag of spinach for $6.00 (normally $2) leaves me in no doubt that the supermarkets are not doing there bit.

I see countdown also put out info they will not be running specials like they are doing everyone a favour.  Specials are a proportion of most shoppers decision buying.  I would be OK with this if they were bringing down the cost of goods inline with this, but that is not the case.

Giving wage subsidies etc. is good and well, but when supermarkets are being give free reign, and abusing it the government needs to step in.
