Like I said before, masks will only become necessary when there are enough supply, otherwise media will keep saying it is not required by normal people.

I am glad to see there are actually quite a lot customers is wearing masks yesterday when I went to Pak n save. All staff is equipped masks & glove, but some of them only cover their mouth not nose. I even saw a pluming guy sprayed his van door handle after he tucked everything into his van.

I received my first parcel of masks sent by my friend in China, and gave some to my neighbors by leaving them in their letterbox and text them to pick them up. My neighbors do realize masks is necessary when involving contact in public but they just can't find it anywhere.

I was just browsing through Brisbane's coronavirus public update site as I have family there and came across this. They have done a great job of sharing contact tracing info so public can check for themselves instead of them tracking only. It lists all the flights, close contact rows, all the locations (including the time period) of possible infection. Is there anything like that for New Zealand ?

MoH lists flight numbers and dates, but not rows.

Or Batmans opinion that running a ventilator is just pressing a few buttons then go.

Our ICU protocol is 44 lines of A4 text just on respiratory management.

if they are the surgeon type masks then they are only useful for people with the virus and stopping them coughing and sneezing on healthy people, they will not stop the virus from infecting healthy people , to many gaps.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

I have friends living in beach "hot spots" like Orewa and Kohimarama Bay and all are reporting people milling around or seemingly driving to the beaches. Bloody hell.

We can see CT as a % of cases. It took a good while to find one. Even though we cant test everyone, doctors send people home as does MoH, that must severely cut down unknown spread. CT is like cases, the cases we have are what we tested, there are others, and they will have been sent home for 14 days. Now, its getting bigger, and while we can and do contact trace a huge number of people, its harder, so we go to lockdown.

If we tested random asymptomatic cases its a negative result, so we let them go. So IMO that random test would not change the problem.

The argument is could we have locked down Jan 26? We could have, but we aren't mind readers. We could also have locked out Kiwis and travellers very early on, cant really do that for Kiwis and residents , so we had to grin and bear letting SO MANY in every day, and thats where the tests were focussed. As that is the source.

The point of random testing would not be to find asymptomatic negatives, but rather asymptomatic positives.

I don't think we're going to agree on this, and we don't have to because neither if us gets any input into the Governments strategy anyway!

So it turns out the most unexpected infection appears in West Coast. I really hope this will open the govt's eyes and do what you said to do.

Elsewhere in the world, the first Infant Death too.
