Surely people must be aware of the risks though? Australia has had this in place for some time. Yes there is a cost barrier, almost $4K I think, but surely it's a kind of insurance?

Sure. But contact them - don't just turn up.

There absolutely are some risks to staff administering jabs and of transmission between patients.

One idea suggested there is to administer jabs to people in their cars outside clinics. That seems like a very good idea to me.

As above. If you need to contact your GP or pharmacy contact them first and arrange a time.

If you have COVID-19 symptoms make sure to let them know in advance.

Do not turn up at your GP or pharmacy and put everyone there at risk.

What really frustrates me about these discussions here and elsewhere is nothing I see applies to me at all. I am over 70, live on an isolated rural farm, am a half-hour drive (each way) from town and the nearest shops, doctor, vet, what have you. I rang my doctor twice about flu jabs and was told they didn't have any yet and to ring back. Now I also wonder if I should bother. My isolation is such that I have almost no exposure. Should I drive all the way into town where I will have exposure, regardless of how careful they are? I don't want the flu but I really don't want Covid19, which is a horrible death for us old people who already don't breathe all that well. I am also totally dependent on others for any shopping or other chores. I keep seeing expert advice I can't possibly follow in my situation. It doesn't inspire confidence. Again, not everyone lives in town. Not everyone over 70 lives in town. Not everyone has younger friends/family/neighbours to do things for them. It all gets a bit wearing. God knows what it will be like when the weeks turn to months.

Don't just drive there - as above, contact first. Pharmacies should have the flu vaccine, our daughter got hers on Saturday (mild asthma).

Min Health update just now says there's vaccine available and the risk groups should have it. If your GP/Dr doesn't have it, contact your pharmacy.

Had to laugh at the Police Commissioner update... In one case they have people under "managed self-isolation" and another a couple of people didn't oblige to their recommendations so the police "obliged for them".

I did too. He's good like that, like the other day, take him to "our place" He is very good at talking Police talk, in a very engaging way.

Just been informed my office has someone who has now tested positively. Love that for us. Managers say they’ve completed some contact tracing of their own to identify who the person may have been around.

Did anyone notice in a news article on 3 news where they interviewed people at community check-point in the Far North. Several people shown talking into the same microphone. I wonder if they sanitised it (including the foam cover) in between?

They used to use overhead microphones on a boom. Remember when they used to drop into shot?

Why not do that now? A lot harder for droplets to go upwards, especially (Provided there is a breeze etc) if the microphone, interviewer, camera person etc are upwind.

Police have received >4,000 reports of rule-breakers and only arrested 3, and let 2 go without charge (other one had a pre-existing warrant). So effectively in NZ there's no downside to flouting the rules (if you're selfish and don't care about the disease itself). This is very disappointing - we are all aware that there are many instances of rule-breaking, and this will only continue if violators aren't made an example of.
