Bare beer by Sawmill - I like the taste but nothing lingers. Once finished it's like I have just had a glass of water. Still, will buy again.

Water 🤢

@mikeaqua have you tried the Bavaria 0% IPA? I found it not that bad and under $10 for a 6 pack it was worth a nudge. Definitely tasted hoppier than Tiny and All Day although thinner in mouthfeel if I remember correctly.

Shows you that taste really is in the eye of the be(er)holder, as that Bavaria IPA is the very one I commented on on the previous page as finding gross and haven’t been willing to drink the rest of the pack!

With the Bavaria beer make sure it’s the red label. The white and green label taste awful to me. Paknsave and New World stock them. I’ve given the red label one to friends and they can hardly tell it’s minus alcohol.

Meanwhile visited some people the other evening and politely refused some wine just wanted tea thank you. Even explained was going for blood tests in the morning, taking drugs etc. Wine bottle opened and poured in front of us, they just refused to accept no for an answer. Very irritating.

I don't buy that. They rather didn't find any water and had to drink wine from bottles for weeks.

NZ is built in the twin pillars of piss and weed.  I quite completely a couple of years back due to health issues (gout).  The experience has been an eye opener, I have lost friends due to it.  What surprised me and what nobody talks about is the vast improvement in my mental health since quitting.  Alcohol is a depressant.  On a similar note coffee is anxiety juice so if you are having stress problems when don't drink that.

What I do have is a medical cannabis prescription through Cannabis Clinic.  CBD has been a wonder drug for me, it helps with stress and also is an awesome anti-inflammatory.  We finally have whole flower (buds) and medically certified dry herb vaporizers available to anyone who needs them.

My advice on this is if you are currently using tramadol and diclofenac for your health issues you are probably better off with CBD and THC.  Less side effects, more positive benefits.

This book explains all the science: Cannabis Is Medicine: How Medical Cannabis and CBD Are Healing Everything from Anxiety to Chronic Pain: Goldstein MD, Bonni: 9780316500784: Amazon.com: Books

My advice is that if people have pain or inflammation to manage, they should talk to a qualified medical professional.

I've listened to quite few of them interviewed on the subject of medicinal products derived from cannabis.  Opinion seems to vary widely and patient experiences seem to vary widely as well.

I don't doubt that cannabis is very useful for some people in some circumstances.  However the positioning of it as cure-all miracle dug is bogus.

My concern is what is the impact if any does medical Cannabis and THC have on Kidney function. NSAIDs have a bit impact on Kidney function, Tramadol has a similar impact on Kidney function as Paracetamol.

I had not consumed alcohol in many many years. I went off 90% of my medication late last year so for my birthday this year I thought I would try a drink of wine. I found I did not like booze anyone.

I haven't had a drink in months. I didn't quit, I just didn't feel like drinking. Then I realised that I wasn't getting anything at all from it, so why not quit buying it and save some money? I don't feel better or worse than I did before. The point being that drink did not add or subtract anything so there wasn't a whole lot of point in it.

As a person with one kidney, who isn't allowed NSAIDS, I've done some reading on this.  I haven't seen anything specifically on THB or CBD but general cannabis use seems to not be good for your kidneys.  My understanding so far is anything that works via the COX1 or COX2 pathways can cause renal oedema and consequent damage.  All natural anti-inflammatory substances I have come across so far work via these pathways. I am not an expert on this in anyway but I've read a lot in this area, although not much in the last year or so.

I'm on a similar position.  I've mostly weaned myself off booze without any intention to do so.  Like you I came to resent the cost (which is mostly tax) and I also don't need the calories.  The challenge is what to drink other than water, that doesn't have sugar in not or taste awful.

A lot of people use alcohol as a social lubricant, but as often as not seems to cross into the area where alcohol removes social inhibitions. Unsurprisingly, in many of those situations, you end up making your non-lubricanted interactions more difficult.

The only thing left for me to deal with nerve and general inflammation is periodic injections of Depo-Medrol a high dose steroid that does not impact kidney function. It can impact liver function and bone density. There has to be a minimum of five weeks between shots. So I have periods of ok and periods of hell. I received and injection Tuesday night so I am currently out of hells grip.

I find it amusing watch the decline of drinkers during a function. Stops boredom😁

When I did drink, gin and tonic was one of my favourites. Then I discovered that it was just as good without the gin. Tonic has a refreshing zing, and the diet version is also quite acceptable to my taste, so that might be a possibility. The other day I had some kiwifruit juice and that was simply amazing. I checked the label and couldn't find any added sugar or other toxins. It might be worth a try.

Unrelated, but I recent discovered that Kiwifruit is very nice with soft cheeses like Buratta and Stracitella
