Widened their testing? So we could have tested 6000 a day way way back? No... Now that we can test 6000 a day...

You are making me imagine Sir David as a white wizard with a big wand that when waved in a certain motion by him, magically increased testing capacity overnight. Whatever he did, that was amazing.

Not at all. he and many others are in the support role for the virus. I am not a doctor, nor an epidemiologist, nor a fortune teller. So unlike you, I cant make all the correct decisions, and then criticise everyone. At the end of the day, NZ is literally at the top of the global effort. Although I often read here we have done so much wrong and are behind many other countries. I imagine if we got all these people together, spent two months planning everything, there would have been less issues of concern. There was obviously no time. What we did we did on the fly. The other thing is an epidemiologist is one one skill that is needed. management ion the DHB's, travel, Kiwi's offshore and onshore, Police, what the law allows, there is a lot to this and and epidemiologist is just one piece of the puzzle

Excellent writeup from someone who was on the front lines fighting Ebola in Sierra Leone on the lessons we can take from that to Covid19.

Edited to correct the link.

Nice but some people don't do facebook.

Artist friend of mine was organising a performance via Facebook. I said I'd put out a tarp with a large white cross painted on it for her carrier pigeon to home in on. Now the performance has been and gone, no pigeon notification, missed the whole thing.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

@tdgeek @Batman Do not quarrel with yourself - you have gotten away well so far and the lessons learned will be compiled later. Then the questions about civil protection and emergency plans have to be asked again, some things have simply been neglected or not thought possible and the consequences have to be drawn - we are all just human beings. Even for the situation in our city, I dare to say that it couldn't have been done better for the moment. When the situation has stabilized, the next steps can be taken. The whole thing is like a huge tankship for which course changes have to be made long distances and times beforehand in order to ultimately arrive where you want to go. Now it depends on the experience and the right decisions of the captain (and his staff).

Saw that, not great. Have they got the infection again, so immunity doesn't work, or are their legacy remnants of the past infection that fool the test? Or did it re ignite? (In the game person)

Not great.

Batman:

would youtube be a better platform? most TVs have a youtube app. i don't watch things on my phone. on laptop at a stretch but 15" is much smaller than 65" and a home theatre system.

Youtube, Vimeo, any platform like that which will stream video without having to install apps or sign up for being sold to marketers. The non-carrier-pigeon-using artist friend I mentioned in my previous post put the performance she did on Vimeo.

Rikkitic:

There are dicks and then there are superdicks. This item is about a superduperdick who organised an expensive junket to the South of France by private jet for a group of privileged few who believe the rules are for everyone else. When they landed and were confronted by authorities, the superduperdick just sniffed and said he would pay whatever the fine was and carry on to their luxury lodgings. Fortunately the French were having none of it sent all the dicks back to where they came from.

I liked the way they described them:

The passengers, seven men between the ages of 40 and 50 and three women who were "around 25," were heading to Cannes, an official with the Marseille Provence Air Border Police told CNN.

Now nice, they were taking their, um, nieces on holiday with them.

When this becomes confirmed ... "Houston we have a problem."

I wonder if that's what's happening in China?

It could be all sorts of things, false positives, false negatives, declared Covid19-free too soon, we just don't know enough at the moment.

I understand in NZ we aren't retesting people who have recovered. I am wondering if that isn't an issue? How do we know that everyone has cleared the virus, and after 48 hours of not having symptoms in NZ, those people are then able to go out shopping.?  There have been other stories in the media from overseas about people who have tested positive again previously, but it didn't appear to be very common, nor explained why. If we aren't retesting people in NZ who had it, to make sure they were clear, how would we know they are clear of it, especially as they keep saying that this is a new virus and there is so much we don't know about it?
I would be more concerned if people were getting reinfected again after a short period of time.
