I think I'm up to number 5 on the RAT test tally all being negative. Already over sticking a swab up each nostril. It seems a bit like Russian Roulette for me, just a matter of time before the hammer falls I fear. All practical precautions being taken but it's a numbers game and the odds aren't flash the way I see it. About 6 so far at work, casual contact with one well over a week ago.

Really does feel that way. Number 3 for me today, two positive cases within my household. I'm allowed to go to work via the Close Contact Exemption Scheme, but am rostered to work from home, thankfully.

Feels like it is only a matter of time..

No working from home option for me. RAT tests each day before I go to work and sometimes after work. Number 6 done, negative.

Following my Booster shot Sunday morning I became increasingly tired. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday I felt shattered, very tired and aching. However this morning my energy levels are up but a persistent headache and cough prevails. Hopefully that will go soon. Its a fantastic day in Te Whanganui a tara so resting on the deck is idyllic place to recoup.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

I've had symptoms for a few days but tested negative.

Had a fever last night and couldn't get out of bed this morning.

RAT was positive in about 10 seconds this time so wife is off to collect our daughter from school.

No matter how hard I try to keep positive and fight the anxiety I seem to take a few steps forward and then reality bites and I am back worse than I was. As odd as it may sound I am worried that I will stop fighting.

We've become a plague household today. Eldest child tested positive this morning after symptoms and negative tests last two days. So we are isolating. Same day - discover the upstairs toilet is leaking and has ruined the floor (particle board under tiles) in the WC and adjacent bedroom and downstairs ceiling etc. Can't get a plumber etc. Big oof. Other kids and I tested negative today... how long will it last... feels like it might be a very long 10 days (or longer!)

Cheers,
Joseph

It doesn't rain but it pours, hey? Sometimes life just seems really unfair. I hope you can get some support from friends and community and are able to work things out. Good luck with it all.

Best of luck!

I just read about someone whose husband tested positive, then the kids a few days later; she tested positive on day 10, so SHE will have an additional 10 days...

Very sad to hear this. I hope that you can be hopeful and cheerful because I know that anxiety is a merciless master.

By the way, when you dropped out of GZ for a time, I missed your comments. We might disagree on some things but I value your compassion, empathy and honesty - thanks.

I've just finished my ten-day isolation (actually eleven days because the first day is day zero) and the virus has been worse than any of three vaccination doses. I'm pleased to say that my lungs, which were my main concern, have coped better than with a bad cold or the flu. A possible contribution to this is taking my doctor's advice to commit to regular Vitamin D supplements - the efficacy of this for Covid appears very clear from the research papers I've read. After four years, I can see clear improvements in my chest health.

Don't know how I caught it as nobody I know appears to have caught it before me - even the Parliament protestors. Happy that I got it with higher immunity.

Anyway, I'm not fighting anything. I'm too tired for such effort but mainly because I want anxiety and negative feelings/thoughts to get no focus. Instead I'm relying on spending time on anything that gives me happiness and joy: children, friends, animals, sunshine on my skin, driving (when out of isolation), helping others, etc. Right now, I'm watching my hardly-ever-gets-sick wife - fully-recovered after only six days since her first covid symptoms - who is out in the bright sunshine feeding branches into our excellent self-feeding Ryobi shredder. It's working for me. :D

Even the bad things are giving me joy. Leaky tap in boarder's rooms has wrecked back of cupboard unit. :D She didn't tell me earlier because I was isolating. So I look forward to the cost of replacing it all and making her life better. :D

Thank you. Yep this is the latest in a series of unfortunate events over the last several months. Frustratingly I’ve now had to postpone getting my uretral stent removed (Google it if you’re not feeling bad for me yet!) which I had finally just had scheduled. I’m also in the process of a legal matter, a major personal life change AND refinancing a house at the worst possible time in years. Big, big, oof.

But only for her. Husband & kids can resume normal life ... based on my understanding of these two paragraphs from the "Guidance for household close contacts" updated on 2022/02/24

=====

Remember, when the first case in your household reaches day 3 and then day 10 of their isolation period, you must get a test. Find testing services in your region here.

You can go back to normal life on day 11 provided you have a negative test result from your day 10 test so long as you have no new or worsening symptoms.

=====

Emphasis mine.

search mindfulness for anxiety, it uses the mind to acknowledge (not suppress not fuel not banish - these make it come back with a vengeance) instead of drugs

for other mental health issues i recommend a book by Daniel Amen called the end of mental illness. he's a real psychiatrist that is against psychiatrists treating what they do not know about, rather he helps improve people's brain health (like if you have breathing issues the lung doctor takes an xray, ct scan, lung function tests and treats the underlying issues)

As I understand it, once you test positive, there is no need to test negative on Day 10 ... (although, this does appear to be creating confusion for people).

“After 10 days, and as long as you are free of COVID-19 symptoms, you will be free to leave isolation. You do not need to be tested. If you were, the result would likely show as positive but that does not mean you are infectious.”

@josephhinvest I think you’ve won this weeks prize for the worst of luck. What else could possibly go wrong. Albeit a forced one, it will be a rest to regroup body and mind and get some vitamin D in the sun.

May your troubles end soon in good health.
