kingdragonfly: Literally willing to gamble with her constituents' lives. From an interview with Las Vegas, Nevada Mayor Carolyn Goodman on CNN's Anderson Cooper 360:

Mayor Goodman: We have to open up. We have to go back. Our bus drivers, our room cleaners, our restaurants —

Reporter Cooper: But hasn’t it been because of social distancing that the numbers have been what they are.

Goodman: How do you know until we have a control group? We offered to be a control group. Anybody who knows anything about statistic knows that for instance you have a vaccine, you give a real vaccine —

Cooper: You’re offering for the citizens of Las Vegas to be a control group to see if your theory on social distancing —

Goodman: I did offer, it was turned down.

This is when you need a "Boris Johnson" event to happen in the US.  He was a little like this before he got it and was in ICU. I bet she would change her mind very fast if she ended up in an IC unit or someone very close to her did.

Maybe she should be looking at getting some of those people that want to work (get paid) in to package goods/food for people that are in need and not reopen hotels and casino's etc.

I am trying to watch that video and have reached about halfway. I had to stop for a bit I was so saddened, angered, dismayed, shocked that someone that dumb holds the position of Mayor for a city of 2million. Then I thought Trump okay he President over several hundred million.

Is this mayor related to Trump? I have tried to work it out but I have nothing. I fear for the common folk of the USA they are doomed with leaders like this.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

I think the Mayor of Las Vegas is a Karen. They tend to wreak havoc among wait staff and teacher-parent conferences, among other things.

I particularly like this one:

Karen: Typically never a name given to a baby but somehow Karen always turns up asking to see the manager

Karen "I would like to speak to the manager"

Manager "Is your name Karen"

the problem in tourism is that all the operators went after the oversea tourists and forgot the domestic ones. Here in Rotorua you will find a majority of people who live here have not gone to the attractions and wont take visitors to them because they are to expensive to visit , the operators didnt care so lets see what happens now.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

Bored kids: Gee, it's lockdown. No school. Nothing to do. I guess we could go out and tag some buildings. Or maybe start a fire or two. Or, we could do this ...

Man's lawsuit over Covid-19 lockdown restrictions dismissed

A man who claimed that alert level 4 placed him and his family in "detention" has had his court case against Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and Director-General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield dismissed.

Justice Peters agreed that she did not consider the man's family to be detained as they remained free to engage in many of their usual activities.

The problem is not that at all.

If you’re running a high cost business, you’re only going to do that if you can make enough return to run it and make a reasonable income.

The problem is New Zealand being a low wage economy, not tourism operators sensibly seeking to to sell to customers prepared to pay a reasonable price.

Since you cannot, for example, suddenly make a Jet boat business cost less to run, if you lose those customers who can afford to use it, you may as well just wind it up. Which is what they have done.

Expect the same to happen to hotels.

I assumed she was Republican as well, but then, stupidity knows no political boundaries.

Isn't experimentation on human subject without their consent a violation of the Nuremberg Code? It's also written into US law, specifically 45 CFR 46, in particular §46.116.

I was very pleased to hear Jacinda Ardern mention and thank in her 1pm address today the 600 plus Defence Force personal assisting with Covid 19 and the RNZAF crews that have been helping our Pacific Island friends with cyclone relief.

Absolutely. This issue has seen a small number of people in the limelight. The same for the cleaners, and now the Defence Forces have been doing their part, often unnoticed.
