When you are allowed to have up to 100 people at a gathering as of noon today, do those 100 people still have to observe physical distancing of 1m or 2m?

Our club captain is busting a gut to hold our AGM asap.

I believe the rule is basically,
1 metre, where Contact tracing register is recorded (properly)

2 metres, where Contact tracing register is not 'doable'

And no sharing of resources / items / people.
(dont pass around 'hand-outs/microphones etc')

Thank you @concordnz  , so handing out agendas is going to be a no-no, along with coffee and cake to pull in the members because AGMs are so much fun. :)

I thinking handing out agendas is OK, and probably preferable to everyone picking one up from a stack of them, but passing around agendas (or an attendance sheet) is definitely not OK.

Likewise providing coffee and cake, so long as utensils aren't shared. So one person could prepare all the coffees, cut up the cake and put it onto individual plates/serviettes, and hand it out to attendees.

Coz the virus will be less jumpy in winter huh.

By the end of next week we will likely be 0 active, and it will have been 14 days since a new case,

But in reality it will have been a month  (the last case declared on the 22nd was marked as recovered on the same day, so was not new,)

the prior case was 17th May (a pre schooler which had miraculously recovered by the 22nd, so was again likely to be another "weak positive" non infectious case) , then you have to go back to 15th for the "weak positive" from Marist which again was not infectious.... Which means that last actual recent case transmission was 11th May....

There will simply be no active COVID in the NZ (non quarantined) population

Does nobody else realize.....

"Tourists" NO Longer EXIST in pre-covid numbers.

Opening our boarders[specially too early], will contribute very little (economically) - while creating a Major Risk of a 2nd wave.
There is NO 'wave' of tourist pent up demand, just waiting to come into our country.

And I have serious concerns about 'Honesty"
(Tourists and foreign students - are well reported(in media) for their dishonesty, and willing to lie, to save themselves time and/or money
- so don't rely on them to 'self isolate' / be honest about where they have been & their current wellness status)

This I believe is predominantly because they carry no loyalty to the country they are visiting,
They know they will be leaving again very shortly
they will not have to live with any consequences to their actions (if they do spread a disease into the country),
and they dont even have to pay/contribute to the huge financial burden a 2nd wave will cause the country. (this is borne by the Tax payers - and tourists are not NZ Taxpayers)
consequently - their care factor(and any incentive for them to be honest) is extremely low.

Thoes FEW tourists that do continue to exist.
Will be impacted by the following factors(and more)

A) Will have significantly lower 'holiday budgets, and wont be able to afford to fly overseas, in anything like pre-covid numbers.
(There has been huge amounts of 'discretionary expenditure" - sucked out of society, world wide by 4-8 weeks isolation)  - 'tourist spend by its very nature - is 'discretionary spending.
B) Will be under pressure by their own Countries/Governments(& society pressure), to Holiday Local / Buy Local - to support their own local economy.
C) Will (rightfully) have a significantly increased 'fear' - of being cooped up in a tin can, breathing the same air as their fellow passengers for hours on end.
D) The cost of flying itself, will be significantly more expensive than pre-covid, further reducing already reduced probable tourist numbers.
E) have a risk of not getting home in time, if a relative get hospitalised/dies while they are away.
(it used to be easy to change holiday plans / return home at very short notice - now = extremely expensive and difficult)
F) How many Cruise ship tourists do you think we will get over the next 12 months? - I dont know ANYBODY who is planning to go on a Cruise, right now - compared to dozens who 'would have' & actually Were,  pre covid.

The Risk of us opening our borders too early, is extremely high, for very little economic benefit.
(business travel = a lot less risk, (less paces visited & better contact tracing - but the Cattle conference, shows this is even quite high risk.

I could easily see counteries only getting one tenth of  pre-covid tourists, for the first 12 months.

If a NZ tourist business cant survive on those reduced numbers - they need to look at closing their doors now - or refocusing on ' local tourism'
(which directly impacts other countries plans to try and get 'our tourists dollars' - same as their tourism plans will reduce/eliminate our potential tourist visits.)

Worldwide - Millions have lost jobs - (these use to be tourists)
Worldwide - Millions are afraid of losing their jobs (these guys aint flying anywhere any time soon)
Worldwide - Millions of homes have gone from 2 x incomes to 1 x income. (these people are no longer tourists)
Business Owners - used to be high spending Tourists, with solid/high discretionary income (these guys are now desperately trying to keep their businesses afloat - they are no longer tourists)
Worldwide - Millions are discovering that they 'should have' had some savings put away for a rainy day - instead of spending as fast as they earn. (these guys are no longer tourists)
Asset rich old people in retirement - Are now terrified of a Virus, which Targets them and is highly fatal (these guys are no longer tourists)

In the current circumstances, to see the result of a Gold Band Taxi (In Christchurch) who cleaned his car in the Street after dropping a fare.

Then proceeded to throw all the rubbish under the car before driving off!

(Yes I have made a complaint to the Company)

You need to think it through better,
What if the person handing out the Agenda's is the one Sick/Infected.......
What happens if the person doing the Coffee & Cake is the one Infected/sick.......

I would discourage anything like having coffee/cake.
Think about the Coffee machine - everyone touching it - is potentially sharing viruses around. (unless it is sanitised/between drinks)
And the milk jug - who sanitises the handle of this between users.?

(just dont risk it - will it really kill you to NOT have a coffee & Cake during an AGM? - because it surely MIGHT kill you TO have one)
The other problem is these two items Coffee/cake - cause people then 'congregate' in small groups - with LESS than 1m distance between themselves.

Better to have a stack (or 5 stacks), of Agendas on a table/tables, and people go and pick up their own
this reduces your risk, to around 4-5 connected people.

Even better email Agenda out beforehand - and attendee's can print their own copy if they wish..... = no one else fondles your copy of the Agenda.

Our handling of Public Transport has been one of NZ's worst fails.
(we are incredibly lucky that it hasnt caused an CT outbreak)
It should have been shut down immedaitely - and not re-opened until Level 1

What a crazy thing for us to leave functioning.......
Forcing lots of strangers into a confined space, and not contact tracing capability.

Our 'saving grace' is probably that our public transport is that bad - that few people (as a percentage) use it anyway.

As someone who is vulnerable but able to control my exposure to others, I have made my own Level 2/3/4 rules and have continued to isolate myself. I am in the fortunate position of being able to do this. My intention is to move to everyone else's level 2 at the end of this month, now a couple days away, because I believe community transmission has been successfully eliminated and there has been enough time for any new cases to emerge.

I say this because I do fear this virus and am not being cavalier about it, but I think you are taking it way too far and your current posts on this subject strike me as more paranoid than prudently cautious.

No new cases today - 7 out of the 8 remaining active cases now "recovered" - so there's only one person in NZ with the disease.

Very good graphic from NY Times - "herd immunity":

Is herd immunity viable though? From various reports about reinfection can you get herd immunity?
