There's no excuse for this. It's a shitshow.

It should be assumed everyone from outside is positive until end of quarantine and tested. Giving an exemption is a punch in the face of all of us who for weeks assumed our neighbours were infectious.

Fuck if you push to open borders - even to Australia.

GV27:

This is absurd. How can you allow a multi-leg flight passenger to arrive at a border closed due to a pandemic?

Have there been any other lapses in the quarantine that could have allowed them to infect others?

Until recently, they were allowed to go on escorted walks and mix with the general public. This is exceptionally poor.

Did you see them mingling in the smoking area, both new arrivals & almost out of Q. Seems to be some holes

People who were at the Novotel Ellerslie and left (after completing quarantine) since the 7th of June will now have to be followed up by the National Contract Tracing Center.

You have no idea how grumpy I've been in the last two months. And it's not because of the lockdown. I was ok working from home.

I am mad about this.

My flatmates don't understand why I am...

Quarantines don't work unless there are no exceptions...

F*ck if you push to open borders - even to Australia.

+This,

Its highly unlikely Australia will be at an "elimination" position in the next few months,

NZ will be asked to take a huge step to open the border... Whether we are ready will be a very big question?

- heh, the swear filter pinged me for quoting the BDFL :)

I am also angry, having just heard the news on the school run and straight away I thought lockdown, here we come again.

Not good enough. Argh, I'm flipping fuming now, they had no business being here

We are going to screw this up.

Edit: they were here to see a dying relative, who has since passed away. They did not travel for the funeral according to the Herald.

I think this is a huge setback for the trans Tasman bubble. I can't believe they weren't tested at day 3. Then they had some minor symptoms, but were then permitted to travel out and apparently didn't have any testing prior to that. They came from a covid hotspot after all.

Not good enough. Argh, I'm flipping fuming now, they had no business being here, especially for someone who is already dead.

We are going to screw this up.
