What the [is it offensive] is going on!

This just gets worse and worse and eventually we will be straight back into Level 3. What utter madness.

Heads need to roll.

I think we could, because even if the quarantine holes do create new clusters, level 3 will allows us to eliminate it again.US has zero chance to eliminate it, nor does the UK. It may however be isolated to certain regions. But having a crippled economy like USA has which physical distancing for potentially years, and going in and out of lockdowns, would liekly end up costing a lot more than having the virus eliminated. Elimination also means far less deaths

It is complete madness that we didn't adjust the quarantine rules as soon as we moved down to level 1, and that 3 day testing didn't start ocurring until this week. Madness. WE were assured by the PM that it was now watertight.

IMO heads need to roll. New Zealanders all sacrificed so much to eliminate it, and our officials have let us down badly.

I said from the time of the Christiansen decision that the MoH was systemically stuffed. Few NZers would have read the full decision (I have) -- the utter lawlessness and the "We are king of the world!" culture on the part of the MoH was absolutely apparent then. Drunk on adulation and buying into their own (and everyone else's) unwarranted hype for what was relatively speaking pretty good management of the disease that still had its weaknesses, these useless bureaucrats seem to still be in party mode.

There needs to be a serious clean out but we all know it won't happen.

Yeap.

Guessing there is going to be a big press conference tomorrow about all this. Wonder who is going to front it. The warnings have been there fore while with various media stories about these hotels.

This virus came into NZ via people coming into NZ from overseas. Haven't we learnt that if we allow exemptions, or not quarantine people properly, we risk it coming in again? Heads need to roll.

The compassionate exemption was probably the right thing to do. The thing bothering me is lack of coordination in that to arrange same day testing to reduce the risk as far as possible prior to going out of quarantine in these circumstances. I assume it's just a hole in the defined process and this case slipped through it.

Even with a test, which may have come back negative, due to a false negative, we are still risking the virus into the community, if we allow people out of quarantine too early. Potentially it is a risk work billions each time we let someone out . Quarantine is supposed to eliminate the risk. IMO there should be no exemptions at all, especially for people coming from covid hotspots. It then makes it simple. If they don't want to abide by the rules, they can stay where they are. But they are potentially putting other NZers lives at risk.

The fact that Australia now appear to be pulling out or significantly delaying any trans Tasman bubble, when the risk has been seen by some NZ politicians as low, and that the bubble should already be open, IMO just shows how Australia are wanting to eliminate any risk themselves.

Also didn't the DG say why it happened? I thought he said it was because we came out of level 2, into level 1 sooner than expected, so they only then started to do the day 3 testing this week. There was so much political pressure to go into level 1, and that may now come back to bite us. I always said having a crisis like this, during an election campaign is a bit of a recipe for disaster, because the crisis just gets politicized.

I would like to see us in a level 1.5, where we go back to tracking. The thing is that how well is our national tracing going to be, if people haven't been keeping a record of their activities. I feel we are pretty vulnerable now, based on all the stories that have come out in the last day.

Had the same thing at the local Bunnings, one of the few places that had the MoH QR code up, last time I went there was some other QR code up that the MoH app didn't recognise.

In all likelihood you are right. There will be very limited acceptance of draconian measures for the general population at this point.

What is the penalty for misleading the DG of health during an epidemic? Would that be considered obstructing the DG?

I'm not out for blood but if people are going to take the mickey after a nation-wide lockdown then there needs to be a proportionate response.

The app will scan without any connection being active. It also gives a message if you try to scan an invalid QR code. The QR code needs to be obtained from here

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

So the person that was hugged and kissed when to her Gym in Highland Park, Auckland on Tuesday and now that Gym is closed until testing is complete. These people cannot be trusted... Lost on THE motorway. The Novatel In Ellerslie is almost on the motorway. And there is only 1 auckland motorway required.

Just a bunch of lies that are now compounding. Makes you wonder how many in Welly had close contact like this.

I think JA was a bit quick with the 'they did nothing wrong' speech
