Yes MoH set test regimes, they are responsible for testing and for the protocols in the managed isolation centres (but have no control in running that function)

The voluntary pamphlet was raised on todays 43 minute video, Ill see if I can find it. Cant recall the reply.

Don't care about any of that BS. The Health Act is law -- the MoH exists to control pandemics and manage public health. It's not lawful to just delegate that authority. Even if they have no control of the sites, it's up to them to ensure that correct pandemic controls are in place. Stop playing PR for them.

No, no matter how many times you assert otherwise, the MoH has responsibility for pandemic control under the Health Act. If you can't be bothered to read it or don't know how, that's not my problem. It's within my expertise to know this as a matter of fact. And they sure as hell have the responsibility for testing people.

I never said anything about MoH re testing. Of course that's their role.

if you are going to be obtuse, fine. As I thought was painfully obvious, I've explained who has operational control of the centres. If thats not relevant, thats fine, but attacking that will solve issues, but its not about that for you.

Bye

Who says I am not interested in getting the isolation places right? The point is that the MoH has fundamentally failed to check, verify, and enforce the necessary pandemic control measures. I can forgive honest mistakes but won't abide by BSers. And people have been pointing out the issues for weeks -- yet every time Spinmaster-General has been deflecting, talking crap, or making generic assertions like how they have good measures in place. Nothing of significance in relation to these issues that have been asserted by the Spinmaster-General and his acolytes remotely withstand scrutiny IMO. I find this behaviour utterly despicable, especially when it's been led by a senior civil servant who's required under the state sector code to act honestly and to behave with integrity.

Bloomfield is worse than a joke and needs to go.

Why is it that the PM is bringing the military in to clean up the managed isolation centres and border? If MoH is accountable for the pandemic process (which I dont doubt) I would have thought that would be their call.

dejadeadnz: Firing Bloomfield sends the necessary message that these self-annointed kings/queens of the world are none of that and should actually start doing their jobs or risk losing it all.

Hardly. It sends a message that the tactics have been successful.

Who would you replace him with? One of his underlings who has perhaps been part of the backstabbing bureaucracy? Or someone from "the outside", who doesn't have health knowledge and/or the infighting skills necessary to survive in the MoH?

I read it as compulsory.

The Ministry of Health has confirmed it is likely to require that masks be worn on all flights from Australia.

"People are coming from a whole lot of international flights and transiting through [Australia] then coming on and just as an additional precaution the advice from our infection prevention control team was to make masks available, I thought it was important to require masks for the duration of the flight so we're putting that in place as well," he said.

dejadeadnz: it's worse than Chernobyl there

Really? Reeeeeallllllyyyy? Think about Chernobyl for a minute. How many people died at Chernobyl compared to Auckland? How much of Auckland will be uninhabitable? Take a breath.

I think he is talking cover-up, not deaths.

Yeah sure. That was a bit of an exaggeration for effect. But it's a gigantic clusterwhatever. There has to be a roots and branch review of the MoH -- some of the overseas media who asserted that we got lucky with our earlier performance mightn't be so wrong, after all.

I agree, firing Dr AB Is the wrong decision, it’s like sacking the coach because the players are underperforming, doesn’t make the team any better, hold those directly involved accountable that failed in their jobs, if mistakes are still being made then look at the top.

I'd normally agree -- the problem is the Spinmaster-General is leading the charge with the ceaseless BS and nauseating PR garbage. That doesn't reflect well on his personal integrity -- and that's putting it mildly.

I didn't see this thrown up.

Also, How is it that continual slandering of an official government role title isn't attracting similar to those told off for not calling the PM by correct title.

People have been called off for using personal nicknames for the PM.

Clearly, someone has a very different idea of what quarantine means than I do.

To me, it is tantamount to a benign prison. You cannot mix with other 'guests', you cannot leave the premises because burly fellows with dogs, tasers etc are there to prevent you. You cannot abscond to attend a gang tangi. You cannot drive yourself to Wellington. Etc.

What it isn't is a voluntary stay in a hotel on your own recognisance.
