'We need to live with it': White House readies new message for the nation on coronavirus

It's likely political, wanting to draw attention away from the "bad numbers" of covid stats, as POTUS seeks re-election. Anything to divert attention to other things ... which seems to be racial now.

So their population is about to be reduced by 1% plus, more when health system overwhelmed. And a lot of people will have long term recovery problems as well.

Woman escaped isolation 6.20pm, located 8pm. Five police officers now need to self-isolate. Also need to work out all her movements.

Charges are being considered.

Last bit is crazy, charges should be laid not considered.

I don't know what the charge is. But if there's no charges for unauthorized leaving then everyone that wants to  can just walk out the front door.

i would say that if everyone in isolation decided to go for a walk then they could, pretty much the same as level 4 lockdown in NZ, but the majority know what is at stake so they dont.

I don't believe it you are right. The police brought her back, so they must've had the power to do that.

Managed isolation

If people do not have symptoms of COVID-19 on arrival, they will be placed in a managed isolation facility. They may not leave their facility unless they have applied for and received an exemption from isolation from health officials. However, they can go for walks under the condition they do not have contact with other people in the community"

So the government is still trusting people to do the right thing. Have seen how that's worked out in past.

Certainly, but with rules , not like us.    Hmmm maybe an idea to buy shares in Perspex Industry fund ?

I'm sure they will enjoy never the less.
I did see recent comment from returnee that there are still long waits at supermarkets and shortages they did not like the long term prospect in UK ?
Thus return even though it and Europe was opening with rules and limits.

There will be strict rules to follow in order to keep customers safe: no bar service will be allowed, customers may need to register if they visit, and establishments will have to offer table service.

In venues where two metre distancing isn't possible, customers may sit one metre apart so long as measures are put into place, such as back-to-back seating, perspex screens and partitions between tables. You'll find disposable menus and regular cleaning of commonly touched surfaces.

The latest guidance states the number of people allowed in enclosed spaces will be reduced – you can only visit with your household or with one other household....

Edit: Ok scratch that, no rule survives first contact with thirsty patrons, well the local pub is a social thing .

Yep, but we were allowed to booze when it was safe, UK is still riddled. All they are doing is A) so what too late now drink and infect or B) evoke a Level 4 for 28 days, so after that it can be  managed.

New Zealand's Migrant Workers Are Trapped in a Luxury Resort During Coronavirus

VICE News

A severe economic downturn triggered by the coronavirus pandemic has left thousands of migrant workers jobless in New Zealand. The luxury resort of Queentown in the country’s South Island is worst affected, with as many as 6,500 people in need of emergency assistance.

Colombian Juliana Castaneda was laid off from a backpackers hostel in Queenstown as tourist numbers plummeted. There are currently no direct flights to her homeland, and she couldn’t afford a ticket anyway. “I feel really stuck here,” she told VICE News.
