@MikeB4:

So Jacinda Ardern said we had plenty of face masks, yeah right. I am down to 5 left. My Chemist has my supply on back order and I cant locate any online or in bricks and mortar stores. I guess scumbags are stock piling like they did with toilet paper, masks and sanitiser last time. Like last time some purchased thousands of sanitiser to make a profit. I don't want

masks to make a profit I need them to survive.

Progressive had heaps.

Then limited sales. Meanwhile smaller pharmacy chains aren't in the same bulk supply chain and appear to be struggling - local one is doing them for $2.50c while the CD next door is (or was) 50/$50

I think putting the masks in Countdown was realistically the best choice - quickest distribution with the easiest access to the highest number of people, plus you're likely going to the supermarket anyway. Limiting sales is entirely fair, as people should not be allowed to stockpile essential items beyond a reasonable number.

Bunnings also have masks available.

That said, I do need to go and buy some as I have now almost run out.

5- staff at a quarantine facility or otherwise associated with quarantining returnees

6- staff at other places at the boarder such as pilots, baggage handlers, customs, ports

7- infected surface of frozen products

8- lingering transmission from the original wave

9- deliberate release to help with the election

10- there is no case zero because the virus is all made up anyway

Pretty much it.  The report from Otago uni published the other day estimated the initial R0 in NZ as 7, the actual R0 overseas is lower due to social distancing, hand hygiene, masks etc etc.  Most of those precautions had gone out the window - even local supermarkets here were getting slack with making hand sanitiser and trolley cleaning wipes available at the entrance - level 1 was basically level 0 (except for international travel). So if it's passed down at least 3 generations and R0 is say 5, then there's probably at least 25 cases, 4 generations then 125 etc. A few more generations - and we're in very deep trouble that only an extended level 4 lockdown has a hope of halting.

So that’s the same Tokoroa that’s on the road from Auckland to Rotorua?

Only if you go a weird way..

I'm guessing the Tokoroa case may have travelled and met up with the family in either Taupo or Rotorua.....

(I suspect its more than a casual contact... other wise they would have probably made an announcement)

On the news last night were clips of hoarders leaving supermarkets with trolleys overflowing with toilet paper! I know it is serious but I couldn't help laughing. What is this stupid obsession with stockpiling toilet paper? If you run out of food, you go hungry. If you run out of toilet paper, you can easily make do with rags or a towel that can be washed as necessary or even nothing at all. We evolved to not need toilet paper. We did not evolve to not need food. Is this some kind of QAnon thing? Does toilet paper protect you in some way from alien mind control vaccinations?

An American coolstore business at the epicentre of a coronavirus outbreak in Auckland told workers who are self-isolating they must take leave.

But Americold has now backtracked on a text message sent to its Kiwi workers, which sparked outrage from a union, blaming an “internal communications error”.

Instead, Americold managing director Richard Winnall said New Zealand employees would be given a further 20 days leave, while the business is closed.

Oh the things American companies will try. "internal communications error" - LOL. Come here to do business - then abide by our rules.

And she personally saw  Bill Gates from her office in Invercargill....

.... or did she read it from a government press release, or did she hear about it 2nd(3rd,4th,5th) hand on some QAnon social media group

That's probably going to be a big problem.  They're very social events, lots of singing (which is bad for spreading C19) and probably quite a large congregation.

I guess any infected last Sunday would be just at the stage now of starting to exhibit symptoms / test positive.  A major C-19 outbreak in the Pasifica community would be devastating.

I just saw a photo someone took inside their local covid testing 'tent'

apart from the staff, there was no distancing and not everyone had facemasks , and far too many in the small testing tent at once .
Several people, some who suspect they may have it, standing together closely in the same testing tent ....
Surely to god , have 1 person in the testing tent at a time. Why is this all so hard to get right ?
