Rikkitic:
If something says it kills 99.9% of 'all germs', does that mean just bacteria or also viruses?
Typically yes.
But given that the number of Bacteria and Viruses on earth is a BIG number, that 0.1% could still be a large number....

Remember - it's the 0.1% that kills you. 😕

Aerial defecation - the posh name for a shart perhaps?
That isn't what it means, the article says that 300 people during SARS, were infected, via airbourne transmission of virus-ridden feces aerosols. It goes on to say that airbourne spread happens when residue from the evaporated droplets is suspended in air, and then people breath those in. I suspect this is also why also keeping the toilet clean is very important. My concern is plane toilets which are shared with many passengers throughout a plane and handwashing.
Just watched this video about it in the US, from about 30 seconds in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymdlYDTjuow
My understanding is that the seasonal flu vaccine (which doesn't appear to be available yet in NZ) won't help with this. Plus I suspect it will be restricted due to supply. I also didn't think this was just 'another flu'.

That's correct, a vaccine for one virus wont protect you from a different virus, that's why there is a different flu vaccine every year to protect from what they think is going to be the main flu strains each year. I think what she means when she says it may help, is if you don't have the flu diminishing your immune system, if you get corona you have a better chance at fighting it.

It appears that a number of US west coast based tech companies are going to do something similar, at least in Seattle, but maybe elsewhere.

Fred99: Another important thing about flu vaccine is that seasonal flu already strains hospital resources to the limit. If covid reaches even a fraction of typical flu infection rates, then we're in deep trouble.
So get vaccinated - if not to save yourself then to save others.
A covid case is about a hundred times more likely to need hospitalisation than a flu case
Is the seasonal flu vaccine available at the moment? My father was told he couldn't get it until about April.

Pending dispatched order. And more ordered
Most companies are setting up for 2nd week april deployment
From 2019, the Annual Influenza Immunisation Programme will have a fixed start date of 1 April. In previous years, the programme started as soon as the influenza vaccine became available, generally by early March. The change to a fixed start date of 1 April is intended to ensure that the vaccine remains as effective as possible during the peak incidence of influenza, which in recent years has occurred in late winter.
