Off sick with fever and cough Thursday/Friday last week, and my 4 year old daughter off daycare as well - right around when we found out about a positive test from someone at the daycare.

Felt relatively normal over the weekend.

Worked most of Monday/Tuesday but hit a fatigue wall in the afternoons so they were 7 hour days.

Wednesday felt worse than day 1 and same with my daughter, and now my 5 month old is sick too.

So now its Thursday again and I only managed to clear my calendar and respond to a few emails.

Negative RAT every day for a week for me - but I'm dubious.

Unfortunately can't RAT for my daughter as easily because the screaming fits and fighting are next level... don't want her to injure herself on the swab... will look in to whether we can safely test the baby.

So that's "not Covid19" as it applies to this GZ member but fairly likely its Covid19!

could be anything!

we had a friend who came to play with our kids and had a "cold" with runny nose, had been at school all week

RAT the dribble that came out - didn't even stick it up the nose

+ve

OTOH prior to that have used boxes and boxes of RAT on people who were much sicker and -ve. we were suspicious if the RATs did anything until this happened and we were reassured

I really want to go to the Callum Scott concert but am worried about getting it there. Lots of people projecting their voices, close proximity etc...

We were going to go to Chch Show this week but since cases are on the rise in Canterbury we decided against it. Discretion is the better part of valour and all that.

If the wedding is seated, then wear N95's and you should be fine.

My wife had the misfortune of having to attend two funerals. She got back safely.

Yes, don't get too worried about it.  Just be cautious as per wellygary's comment.  There are of course no guarantees but its easy to over-fear the contagiousness.

I survived a 2 week trip to Japan without incident in the first half of October, only a month or so after the peak of their large Omicron wave.  That involved two long-haul overnight flights (6 - 7 hours solid sleep on each with no mask on*), multiple 3-4+ people meetings (no masks but sometimes perspex 'barriers'), a good number of lunches and dinners in restaurants (none crowded - avoided them), a number of subway trips some of which were jam packed (99% wearing masks - me N95), a couple of parkruns!, a couple of pub visits (one indoors but not crowded), in office most days sometimes wearing mask (currently only 20 - 30% of staff in office at any time), and a bit of shopping etc.  TBH the parts that felt riskiest were the 1 hour shuttle to and from Auckland airport (just me wearing N95, and driver coughing & spluttering part of the time wearing no mask and kept suggesting I didn't need to wear mine as no longer required!  No thanks).  Plus the time inside the pub.  Did worry a bit afterwards that that had not been the smartest move ('drifted' in with the group I was with)!

*re no mask while sleeping on the flight.  Did try for the first 10 - 15 mins on the flight over but the combo risk of sleep apnea and sleeping for hours with an N95 on seemed likely greater than the risk of covid.  But yeah, this was up front of the plane so well spaced out.

Everyone will get Covid19 - the only question is: when?

I think all anyone can say at this point in time is that they haven't *knowingly* had covid yet. Unless they've truly stayed away from everyone.

I haven't knowingly had it. I think the longest I've gone without testing is 5 weeks but I can usually explain the symptoms from usual other sources. I've ended up testing anyway and to be quite honest I'm getting sick of testing and going through boxes of tests and they're all negative. Pretty minor symptoms. Gone in 1-2 days if that. Never progresses.

I don't avoid situations either so I think it's likely I've had it and didn't know or one of those negatives was false. Some friends are onto round 2.

As far as I know I've never had it despite the fact that I take the bus to and from work every day, socialise a lot, and had incidental contact with people who later tested positive.

Having said that, I had an abnormally poor performance in the Wellington Half Marathon in June and I had some unusual blood oxygen readings in the days prior to it. In hindsight I should have taken a test at the time but I didn't think about it as I had absolutely zero symptoms and wasn't aware that asymptomatic infections were a thing.

Not to my knowledge. Was testing every day for work till a couple of months ago ago. Have tested when I've had symptoms. Been in quite close contact with those who have tested positive within 24 hours on more than one occasion, in one case shared a vehicle for over an hour.

Know of people on their second time around with it.

Luck? Who knows.

So...day 7 of isolation. Feeling better, but still not well. Sleep has been an issue - not getting as much as I would like. Waking up on the night and again early morning.

Saturday (now Monday) I lost my sense of taste and smell. Taste is slightly back - in that I can taste sweet, salty, sour. No flavours as such no depth or richness to anything. I have flashes of scent, but think that's my brain playing tricks on me.

Still getting fatigued easily and am thankful for a very understanding boss.

Cough is hanging around as an annoying chest tickle. Fuzziness and fog in the brain seems to be something that has come on too.

Hoping all will return to normal soon.
