So...day 7 of isolation. Feeling better, but still not well. Sleep has been an issue - not getting as much as I would like. Waking up on the night and again early morning.

Saturday (now Monday) I lost my sense of taste and smell. Taste is slightly back - in that I can taste sweet, salty, sour. No flavours as such no depth or richness to anything. I have flashes of scent, but think that's my brain playing tricks on me.

Still getting fatigued easily and am thankful for a very understanding boss.

Cough is hanging around as an annoying chest tickle. Fuzziness and fog in the brain seems to be something that has come on too.

Hoping all will return to normal soon.

Nope, thats it from now onwards. Noone I know has returned to normal, its just the degree of crapness that you are stuck with.

Not sure if I know anyone apart from my wife who hasn't had COVID. Nobody I know has had it twice. Of all of them, none has had lingering symptoms past a week, apart from the lingering scratchy cough. The same lingering scratchy cough that hangs around after a chest infection.

Everyone I know is wheezing, heavy breathing, now sounding like an asthmatic, grumpy, tired, complaining about snot in their lungs and having massive aches and stuff in the morning. The return to normal is just a readjustment of what normal is to you.

The vast majority of people I know and work with have fully recovered, and have no longer-term complaints - myself included.

I'm in the camp of not fully recovered.

I'm coming up to 5 months post infection now and I still have a few carry over symptoms. The wheezing, heavy breathing and a constant feeling like I have a bunch of fluid on my lungs. It doesn't stop me from going about my daily life, just prevents me from enjoying it to its fullest like I did pre-infection. For example, I can still excercise at a low intensity. But as soon as I push it to where my heart and respiration rate lifts out of what would be describe as zone 2 I break out into a coughing fit. Last weekend I completed a 25km low intensity run but I can't run 5km at what would be considered a Tempo pace. Well I gues I could but my current tempo pace is 25-30% slower than what it was pre-infection so I guess that's an example of adjusting to a new normal.

That is a crappy thing to say.

Agreed.

I had (thankfully) light symptoms which went after a week, the cough hung around for another couple of weeks but after that, back to 100% with no known lasting effects at all.

Well, I'm in the camp of fully recovered. I wasn't 100% as soon as the isolation period was over, but I'd say it was not more than another week or two until I was back to how I was before infection. I can't speak for anyone else, but it was absolutely not a "readjustment of what normal is to you" for me.

Interesting, I had a headache and dry mouth last week and was pretty tired. Didn't feel... unwell per se so didn't think to test (no nose or lung symptoms). I put it done to high stress at work, and long days. A day or two later I felt fine again.

The headache was by far the worst of my symptoms. The rest were just typical of a normal cold (not even flu like) but the headache, I'd never experienced anything like it before.

Couple of weeks on and I still haven't fully recovered.

Smell/taste comes and goes. You just don't realise how many smells there are around you until you suddenly start smelling EVERYTHING after a few days of nothing. Can be quite overwhelming. But it's only for short periods.

Cough is still there - still feel slightly wheezy, fatigue still hits after 3-4pm.

Have lost a lot of cardiovascular fitness. I'm not the fittest guy in the world, but this has really knocked me backwards.

I agree with the headache comments - I have never experienced a headache like it. Not even migraines compare.

I took out the bin last night, its about 20m up an incline, was puffing a bit from just that.

Im sure the bin was heavier than it had ever been before too.

My son popped up to the neighbours house yesterday to visit his mate.  The sister let him in and they chatted about the world cup for a bit.  My son then suggested they go to the school for a kick around and the father said they can't given they've got covid.

ffs  So its going to be daily tests for us for the next little while so we're don't become responsible for spreading it.

What is wrong with people.

Mother-in-law got covid when coming back from Melbourne a few weeks back. Landed on a Sunday evening, and positive on Wednesday morning. She's recovered now but told me she was walking a few days ago (a week after being free from self-isolation) and stopped to talk to a friend. "How are you?" she asked, and he replied "Oh, all good. I have covid though."

Why did he stop to talk to someone if he's got covid? And by that matter, someone in the risk age?

Don't this people have any regard for someone else's health? Are they stupid?

They complain when the government imposes regulation, but if let free to decide they are dumb as nails and exercise poor judgement.

Indeed, what's wrong with people?
