Having surgery booked for end of January I am avoiding anything that is not absolutely necessary - going to pharmacy, labs, and hospital is ok, otherwise wife can do it.

If I go out I wear a mask and try to keep away from people. Basically self-isolation for me.

I don't want to get my surgery postponed because other people can't control themselves, so I control what I can.

Wow, so after quite a bit of hassle I got my second booster after 3 primary doses.

I can't recall being this sick after a vaccination ever before. I was fine until about 10pm last night. Because of where they jabbed me I think they hit a nerve or something, it hurt like crazy and my shoulder and shoulder blade were sore after only 30 minutes.

10pm last night I start to feel very very average, and by 11pm I was in full on fever, shakes, aches unlike anything I could recall in my recent memory. My head was pounding and I was sweating like crazy. I think I slept maybe 2-3 hours last night. Things seem better 12 hours on, but I still feel weak and pretty poorly. If this is what Covid is like, I feel very justified in my measures to have avoided it until this point. Holy Moly!

Got my 2nd booster yesterday and no reaction today. One of my colleagues got a booster reaction that was absolutely worse than the COVID he had some months later.

I picked it up for the first time six days ago. I'm not going to go into symptoms, but I don't want to catch it again and I'm thankful that I almost feel back to normal.

Had the shakes Monday night and zero energy, now just a sore throat. Might be a bit of a quiet Christmas....

Welcome to the club, I tested + tuesday morning (first time having it). Don't know where I picked it up from but had 200 people at work near me last friday and the flatmate has been coughing after his xmas party last wednesday.

Monday night i had the cough, tuesday morning woke up with body aches and head ache, was awful tuesday afternoon and had no sleep that night. Had a bit of a nap this morning and feeling a lot better.

Had booked time off work and all to spend it with family out of town, I almost shed a tear when I saw the result as I know this is going to be the last time I see some of my family as their health has gone downhill. Not at all a great start to Tuesday.

One of my workmates went down in the weekend and I had a sneaking suspicion I might get it as I haven't had it yet. I like many others have a few symptoms - but farting seems to be a big one!

I wish all you Geekzoners a merry Christmas - especially the ones who can't be with family over this time. The weathers not looking too bad so that'll help brighten peoples day.

I still haven't had my full sense of smell return and I am still a little chesty several weeks on.

Weirdly, I can't smell very unpleasant smells like old festering rubbish or mud or other offensive smells.

I can smell sweet and savoury smells, like perfumes, bread etc. But some smells are very faint and others are almost overwhelming.

Try to unbook your time off. You shouldn't be using annual leave for Covid. Take it as sick leave if you can.

Maybe look at booking time off later in January 2023

Had that issue a couple of times this year so you definitely have my sympathy and understanding...

Had an MRI booked that I didn't want delayed and made sure I kept away from people. Then I needed a biopsy and had to make extra sure that didn't get delayed.

Unfortunately 90% of the population are now really behaving like selfish idiots and not even taking the smallest precautions. When I went to labtests a couple of weeks back for a blood test, despite the large sign on the door saying it was a medical facility and masks should be warn at all times, people would still march in without them and when they were pointed to the free masks some of them didn't look happy.

I think its just courtesy and common sense to try and protect medical staff (and yourself) as much as possible.

Ah farting. I have also noticed an increase in this. I know way to much info lol. I can still smell everything fine and no lost in taste, however I have noticed that I'm just not hungry at all and eating currently is forced.

Asked flatmate about his eating and he is also not hungry at all, he said he has already lost weight which he is happy with lol.

I'm lucky enough to be retired and have no children in the house and don't need to go anywhere where there will be masses of unmasked people.

I wear my N95 to the shops and never eat out or go to cafés. My wife and adult daughter do the same. None of us have had Covid so far.

I've just had my 2nd booster as I'm going to Canada in mid-January for a couple of months. I've booked a Skycouch on the long flight so no one is sitting next to me. But the Vancouver-Toronto flight will be problematic. If it wasn't winter I'd rent a car and spend 4 days driving to Ottawa.

There's a pretty good chance I'll have Covid by the time I get there. Almost everyone I know who's gone overseas has had to allow for a week of Covid on arrival. I've made sure my travel insurance includes full health cover.

I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place - my contract is part time and I've only been in the job for three and a bit months. It was a push to even be able to get time off at this point in the year (hospo peak) but the boss was compassionate and understood the circumstances. It would have been unpaid leave anyway as I don't have any accumulation of sick leave.

I was forward thinking and booked more time off in late Jan, I will take the chance to catch up with family then.

What about the train? More space, especially if you pay extra, and the scenery is spectacular.
