I need to wire a trailer connector to a 24v vehicle, for towing my own trailers as well as some hire trailers from time to time.

I know I could wire the connector directly to the 24v lights then ensure my trailer has 24v or LED bulbs; however do most hire trailers etc also use 24v or 12-24v LEDs for compatibility?

Otherwise any recommendations for trailer voltage regulators I could pickup in Auckland or Whangarei?

I gave a whole lot of my Aliexpress buck converters to a friend for this exact reason a while back. He was moderately successful but it seems that they had issues on the indicators with the frequent power up and down and would sometimes only show every second flash on the trailer lights. Good enough to get a WOF tho.

His trailer had cheap LED lamps with just a resistor on them, so minimal current but they are not multi voltage. I don't think the little 2 or 3A buck converters would like incandescent lighting. He actually dialed the tail lights down somewhat because the stock lighting was very close to the brake light brightness so it wasn't obvious that you were braking.
