Yeah, but given he has a collection of around 16 cars, adding another is not the same as if you or 1 said "I'm buying a Tesla...."

I think it means more that someone who up until now hasn't really been overly positive towards the topic of EVs has been impressed enough by this particular EV to add it to his collection.  I guess how much worth that has depends on how much credit you give towards his car reviews.

I trust Chris Harris as a purveyor of supercar pornography.

As far as Top Gear being a BBC show and their oft-referred desires to sanitise it to send the right message...

Fresh back from Sydney where I stumbled across the Tesla store.

So strange seeing cars with next to no dash
Touch screen lit up when you pressed the door lever to open the handle
They had a personal selector on the wall for ordering your combination.. I should have snapped that too.

Was the first check box on the list “Steering wheel on the other side”? 😁

If you’re in Auckland they have the same display with a LHD Model 3 you can hop in as well.

BMW M850i vs Tesla Model 3 vs Mercedes-AMG E63 S
drag race, rolling race & brake test

carwow

"It’s time for an electric v petrol drag race! We know these two German powerhouses would be no match for the Tesla Model S, but how will they fair against its baby brother, the Model 3?

The E63 & M850i cost about double the price, so surely the Model 3 won’t have a chance… will it?!

There’s only one way to find out… Let’s race!

Just went and had a look at the Model 3 in the Auckland showroom.
I must say I was quite impressed, although not sure about having to pay $3000+ to get red paint enthused me that much. The towbar option is yet to be confirmed for NZ. I wonder how much a vinyl wrap would cost?
For comparison I called in to the Hyundai dealer on my way home and had a sit in the lower spec Kona EV. Very similar price to the RWD Model 3. Cloth seats, not all the driver aids and an infotainment screen that looked like it had been transplanted from a kid's Android tablet.
When it comes to spending approx $80K on a vehicle the sedan with the towing capability gets my vote. As long as Tesla is here for the long haul that is.

I emailed Tesla NZ about the tow bar and they said although they're not doing the factory tow bar for our market yet, the guy said getting a third party tow bar installed won't void the warranty or anything.

While I don't believe there's any issue with Tesla lasting, even if the worse happens it's very unlikely they'd just disappear. Another company would likely buy them and then your Tesla Model 3 becomes an Apple Model 3 or whatever.

Do you know the weight limit on the third party tow bar?

The original tow bar (at least in Norway) have a weight limit of 950 kg.

I thought the tow ratings are for the car rather than the tow bar itself?  As such, I had assumed it would be the same for both.
