Yes, as far as hatchbacks go, the Leaf has very generous space in the passenger compartment (heaps of leg and head room), but they seem to run out of time before designing the boot.

Boot volume is one thing, usable floor space is entirely a another.

My Gen 2 Leaf fits 2x 30 litre storage cubes.

My little AE101 Toyota Levin coup fitted 5. Even my 1993 MR2 fitted 3!!

Nissan simply wastes space through laziness (not just a Leaf problem). For instance, in the Gen2 Leaf the residual Gen1 charger humps cover nothing - they are empty space and function-less (trust me, I looked) - they removed the humps finally in the Gen3.

Do the panels from the Gen 3 fit the Gen 2?

For clarity. The current generation leaf (ZE1) is the second generation. The photo is from a post mid cycle refresh (AZE0) gen 1 leaf.

Very unlikely pannels from the current leaf will fit he old one. There have been significant changes between the generations.

A new EV under development: https://www.driven.co.nz/news/motorsport/a-rallying-world-first-hayden-paddon-unveils-plans-for-kiwi-made-electric-rally-car/

Expected to be ready to run in the 2020 NZ Rally at the end of Q1 next year.  Based on the Kona, but with a bit more go than the standard one.

As with all rally cars the words 'based on" get majorly stretched,

While a standard Kona Battery might technically have the Kwh capacity, there is no way it would handle the much higher draw down rates... the Battery will be bespoke, along with pretty much everything else,

I was wondering if it will be a scratch built car, I kinda suspect that they will make it 4WD.  I'm not sure how they will put down the torque & power otherwise.

I’m sure it will bear the same resemblance to the regular Kona as the V8 Supercar Mustangs do to their street equivalent.

Still awesome though, will just be the sound of the transmission and showers of stones.

EV's are already the best choice for hill climbs, beating previous ICE records.

I saw a video, which was faked, of a Rivian EV truck doing a "tank turn": running some one or more wheel in reverse, and the opposing wheels forward.

That would be a neat trick for a rally vehicle on a hairpin.

While it may be possible to do the same thing with a conventional petrol engine, and a very complex transaxle, it should be a lot easier with separate EV motors on two or four wheels.

To save weight in the Volkswagen IDR they put the lowest capacity/lightest battery possible for the race, so it has a different battery for different events. Same theory as an ICE race car not starting races/stages with full petrol tanks.

I guess some people like a small car, which is what the Zoe fulfills. However, from a value for money point of view the Model 3 is only $6k more with greater range and better performance

I've always preferred hatchbacks since my first car, to date I've seldom needed or wanted anything bigger. No brats to haul around anytime soon. In saying that I do like the Model 3, between a new Zoe or the Tesla I'd prefer the latter if I was buying new.

EV West Baja Bug - All Electric Off Road Race Car

No commentary. Shows EV kit is quiet. Have fun, and get less complaints.

Speaking of quiet fun, the day 2 stroke trail bikes go electric will be great for outdoor enjoyment...

If my neighbors could switch their leaf blowers and chainsaws to electric that would be great!
