Nissan has revealed it all-electric SUV - the Ariya. It says it is a concept, but it is pretty much production ready.

Although the article is a pile of drivel

"The pluses? Pretty obvious, really. SUVs are hot, Kiwi interest in electric cars is growing and having a robust-looking alternate to the Leaf - the country's best-selling EV (albeit as a used import, not in brand-new form) - with a proposed range of 480km obviously would strengthen his marque's status within the EV segment"

This concept is very similar in shape to the current leaf, so if its "robust looking" then so is the Leaf

Ariya

Leaf

Well spotted @Wellygary - The Ariya is very LEAF-like.

I've looked at a lot of x-over hatches and the LEAF was doing it just as well in 2010....

There must be a lot of mowers in the world and I was thinking as I mowed (it's a very zen activity for me) where are the Tesla mowers?

EGO Mowers are good. I own one and have been using for just over 2 years. Mitre 10 sell the Ego range in NZ.

There's a Ryobi battery electric mower as well. There are others, but there don't come to mind at the moment.

Yes...but I need to mow 10 acres or so weekly at this time of year...!! I need the electric equivalent of a 25BHP VTwin that can run for 3 hours at a time.

I was really wondering where the proper electric ride on/zero turn/tractor type mowers are in all this? They obviously do not collectively use as much fuel as cars but there are still a lot of them around and I doubt they have catalytic converters or other niceties on most of them.

There are more commercial ride on mowers. http://meangreenmowers.co.nz/

I saw one listed at around $22,000.

I have re-powered a mower with Masport 58v 0.75kw electric motor kit.

or there are various models steel, alloy deck, 18/19 mulch catch, larger battery etc  eg https://www.masport.co.nz/outdoor-garden-products/lawnmowers/silver-series/42v-st-s18-lawnmower

We use a John Deere Zero Turn with a 52" deck. We had a JD 2305 tractor with a mid mount 60" deck but the Zero Turn cuts my typical mow by an hour despite having a slightly narrower deck because deck width is only an advantage if you mow rectangles or squares - as soon as you have obstacles etc the manoeuvrability of a ZT mower gives it a big advantage.

Those are cool mowers! When I win Lotto, I am getting me one of those.

About twice what I paid for the one I have now but I imagine they will get cheaper.

You could borrow a few goats. They use this trick in California to clear brush to prevent wildfires.

Guess it beats raking the Forest :),

But in all seriousness how 'bout we get back to EVS,

On Tuesday the Govt added two more EV suppliers to its All of Government motor vehicles contract...

The first one is Landrover/Jaguar, which is pretty much meh as no govt department is going to be shelling out for an I-pace

BUT, the second is Nissan, which now means there is a likely a government discounted price for new Leafs... :)

Model Y Manufacturing & CAPEX Revolution?

HyperChange TV

New patents show the potential for a manufacturing revolution with the Model Y.

First, there is a breakthrough new wiring harness, that reduces the amount of wiring from 1.5KMs (in a M3) to just 100M (in a MY).

Additionally, Tesla has patented a massive new casting machine that could be utilized for Model Y body assembly.
